Frostburn is a debuff that prevents health regeneration. It also causes damage over time effect when inflicted on entities. When inflicted on a player, they will lose (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 8 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 6 health per second; when inflicted on non-player entities (enemies, town NPCs, etc.), they will lose 8 health per second. If the non-player entity is Oiled(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), they will take an additional 25 damage per second, totaling to 33 damage per second.

On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, there is a stronger version of Frostburn debuff, called Frostbite.

The debuff is very useful early to mid-game, as only 32 enemies in the game are immune to it. On Old-gen console version Old-gen console and 3DSNintendo 3DS version, no enemies inflict Frostburn.
