Not to be confused with Starfury.
(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Star Wrath being used to attack Target Dummies. Note how the stars fall towards the cursor, and how the star's trails become more opaque to indicate that they will be affected by solid blocks.

The Star Wrath is a Hardmode, post-Moon Lord sword which, as an indirect upgrade to the Starfury, causes three pink star projectiles to fall at the cursor whenever it is swung, each dealing the weapon's base damage. Unlike the Starfury's stars that become solid upon reaching open space, the Star Wrath's star projectiles solidify once they are within ten blocks above the player or at the cursor's altitude, at which point they will dissipate upon contact with enemies or solid blocks. The Star Wrath has a 2/9 (22.22%) chance to be dropped from the Moon Lord.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • With the Star Wrath being an autoswing weapon, waves of falling stars can very easily be accumulated, rendering this weapon highly effective for clearing large groups of enemies or bosses.
  • Like the Starfury, the Star Wrath's stars can pass through blocks on the way down. However, the unique properties of the stars solidifying while the player is nearby means that multiple open spaces will not hinder the stars, but a low ceiling will block them even if there are open spaces above.
  • Also, like the Starfury, the speed of the falling stars increases with the wielder's melee speed.

Tips

  • Once this weapon is obtained, the Moon Lord can be killed on a sky bridge quite easily. The same goes for the sword Meowmere.
  • It is extremely important to hit enemies with the projectiles, not just with the sword.
    • Each of the projectiles does as much damage as the sword does. Since the projectiles use local immunity, the DPS can roll very high as the number of hits adds up.
  • The Star Wrath can be used for exploring the map easily, since the stars it sends down produce light at the maximum light level.
  • The projectiles summoned by the use of the Star Wrath can inflict effects from flasks such as Ichor.
  • Compared to the Star Wrath, the Meowmere has much higher base damage, but the Star Wrath's projectiles have a higher DPS than the Meowmere's, and they can pass through ceilings. This makes the Star Wrath better for a hybrid ranged play style, where the projectiles are the main damage dealer with the sword itself serving as more of a contingency weapon, and the opposite is true for the Meowmere.
  • The projectiles from Star Wrath are capable of traveling at a near-horizontal angle if the cursor is placed in one of the upper corners of the screen. With some height, it is possible to cause star showers far across the map, which has little practical use but is visually fun.

Trivia

  • It bears a similar appearance and function to the Starfury, particularly before its changes in the 1.2 update.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4:
    • Damage increased from 110 to 170.
    • Projectile damage reduced from 2× base damage to 1× base damage.
    • Falling stars now use local immunity, so each star will be able to hit a target for damage.
