The Cool Whip is a Hardmode whip with a tag effect of +6 damage, and it has a 30% multihit penalty. On hit, it also grants the A Nice Buff buff, creating a homing snowflake projectile that lasts for 3 seconds, which repeatedly deals 15 damage and has 30 armor penetration. If a snowflake already exists, hits will refresh its duration instead of creating a new one. The Cool Whip always inflicts the Frostbite debuff for 4 seconds.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Notes

  • The snowflake projectile applies 20 ticks[1] of local invincibility frames upon hit.
  • The snowflake projectile can home in on enemies within 25 tiles.[2]
  • The snowflake is not affected by damage bonuses outside of banners, does not trigger the whip tag effect, and does not focus struck enemies.

Trivia

  • The Cool Whip and its tooltip, 'Let me have some of that cool whip', are a reference to the brand of imitation whipped cream of the same name.
  • The Cool Whip's tooltip is also a reference to "Barely Legal", the eighth episode of the fifth season of the American animated sitcom Family Guy, in which Stewie asks Brian for some Cool Whip, but pronounces it as "Cool Hwip."
  • The name of the Cool Flake's buff is a pun on the words nice and ice.
  • With perfect timing, it is possible to summon a snowflake at the same time the previous one is about to despawn, causing multiple snowflakes to exist at once.
