The Ash Block is a block that covers the upper and lower sections of The Underworld, and can occasionally encase Hellstone. It can be used for building and for growing Fireblossom.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) In the Ash forests on the outer edges of the Underworld, Ash grass naturally generates on ash blocks, with Ash trees growing on them. Ash Grass Seeds can be planted on ash blocks.

Ash blocks emit subtle dusty particles when walked or landed on.

Notes

In the For the worthy(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) seed, digging up Ash Blocks will sometimes trigger other nearby Ash Blocks to fall (be affected by gravity), similar to Silt. This behavior is closely related to that of Cracked Dungeon Bricks.

Tips

Since it is easy to find, comes in great quantity, and is not corruptible, ash is a useful material for creating barriers to stop the spread of Corruption, Crimson, and the Hallow when in Hardmode.
