The Beguiling Lyre is a pet-summoning item that spawns a Faun that follows the player. When the player is far enough away or in midair, the Faun will fly in order to catch up to them. The Beguiling Lyre has a 6/125 (4.8%) of being dropped from Iron and Mythril Crates.

Trivia

  • Prior to 1.4.5.0, the item was called Tartar Sauce and summoned the Mini Minotaur pet.
    • The name of the item and its corresponding pet were a reference to the Mini Minotaur song by YouTuber Tobuscus.[1] In the song, it is said that mini minotaurs hate tartar sauce and are allergic to it. Its buff tooltip, "How do you defeat a mini Minotaur?", was also a direct quote from the song. It was likely changed due to Tobuscus later becoming a controversial figure, thus Re-Logic no longer wanting to be affiliated with them.
      • The Mini Minotaur's appearance, the red loincloth, and the hammer were probably a reference to the Maulotaur from the 1994 dark fantasy first-person shooter game Heretic, where it is a powerful enemy, and its 1995 sequel Hexen, where the player can summon the Maulotaur to aid them in combat.
      • In Greek mythology, the Minotaur is a mythical creature with the head and tail of a bull and the body of a man. He dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, and was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Theseus.
      • Also in Greek mythology, Tartarus was a deep abyss used as a dungeon for administering divine punishment to the wicked and as a place from where souls were forever judged. While the tartar in both names may be a coincidence, it could be a reference.

    • Item name changed from "Tartar Sauce" to "Beguiling Lyre".
