Betsy is a Hardmode, post-Golem mini-boss that spawns once during the seventh and final wave of Tier 3 of the Old One's Army event. Like all enemies in the Old One's Army, she will despawn upon completion or failure of the event. Defeating Betsy is the only way to complete the final wave of the event successfully.
Behavior
Upon being summoned, Betsy cycles through the following attacks in the following order. If within close enough proximity to the player, she will target them instead of the Eternia Crystal.
- Betsy charges at the target twice in succession.
- Betsy positions herself to the left or right of her target before flying horizontally in a straight line. During this time, she spews a fiery stream of Betsy's Breath from her mouth downward, damaging the target and inflicting the player with the On Fire! debuff for 7–10 / 14–20 / 17.5–25 seconds.
- Then, Betsy charges at the target once.
- Betsy flies forward a short distance while shooting six small Betsy's Fireballs that are affected by gravity, exploding upon contact with the player, the Eternia Crystal, or solid blocks.
- Betsy then flies around in a large loop, similar to Duke Fishron's Detonating Bubble attack during his second phase.
- Afterwards, Betsy performs her fire breath attack again.
- Finally, Betsy hovers in place and roars, spawning three Tier 3 Etherian Wyverns that appear around her, while also spawning an additional three from both Mysterious Portals.
- This attack will not summon Etherian Wyverns if there are already at least five Etherian Wyverns currently existing in the world.[1]
Notes
- Regardless of the world's current point of progression, Betsy always spawns Tier 3 Etherian Wyverns, which can be seen if she is spawned via mods or other external programs.
- Betsy can only spawn a maximum of six Etherian Wyverns from Mysterious Portals. The cap is shared between all Mysterious Portals if more than two are summoned with the use of mods.
- Betsy's attack pattern may randomly skip some of her attacks depending on the player's attacks or movements. However, the first four attacks and the final summoning attack are always performed consistently.

Tips
For more elaborate strategies on defeating Betsy, including weapon and arena recommendations, see Guide:Old One's Army strategies.
- The On Fire! debuff is a major source of damage. Note that it negates life regen from Nebula armor's set bonus – hence, if the player is unable to avoid Betsy's flame breath attack, it might make the armor ineffective.
- The Obsidian Skin Potion can prevent the debuff.
- A floating pool of water (utilizing Bubbles) can be used to cancel the On Fire! debuff. Honey will also cancel the debuff and also give extra life regeneration, but slows down movement while submerged in it unless the player has Flipper Potion.
- This does not apply to life-stealing effects such as the Spectre armor Hood set bonus or the Vampire Knives. It does not affect the Life Drain's health regen boost either.
Trivia
- Betsy is a boss originating from Dungeon Defenders 2, as the 1.3.4 update brought a crossover event between the two games.
- Betsy's Treasure Bag is the only obtainable Treasure Bag that does not contain Expert Mode-exclusive items, and the only Treasure Bag capable of being dropped by an event-exclusive mini-boss.
- Betsy's attack behavior of flying and launching projectiles is fairly similar to Duke Fishron's. Unlike Duke Fishron, however, she does not have additional phases as a boss.
- Betsy, and by extension the Etherian Wyvern, are different from Terraria's long, segmented Wyverns and do not possess the Worm AI. This is because Betsy and the Etherian Wyvern resemble archetypal wyverns, whereas Terrarian Wyverns resemble Chinese dragons.
- Betsy's four weapon drops are the same as those dropped after defeating her in "The Wyvern's Den" map in Dungeon Defenders 2, with each one capable of being equipped exclusively by one of the four base characters:
- Flying Dragon, a sword for the Squire;
- Betsy's Wrath, a staff for the Apprentice;
- Aerial Bane, a bow for the Huntress;
- and Sky Dragon's Fury, a polearm for the Monk.
- The
Bestiary entry for Betsy: "A vicious Etherian dragon who leads the minions of the Old One's Army that found their way to this world."
