The Bone Serpent is a pre-Hardmode worm enemy that spawns in The Underworld. Due to their large size, speed, and high damage, they can be dangerous enemies to encounter, especially if they attack while the player is exploring a Ruined House.

The Bone Serpent consists of 14–20 segments in total.

  • As with most worms, weapons that can hit multiple segments at once are effective. Some effective weapons are the Vilethorn, flails, and the Crimson Rod.

  • Bone Serpents are one of the few pre-Hardmode enemies that do not get stronger upon reaching Hardmode in an Expert or Master world.
  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Bone Serpents can sometimes be seen leaping in the lava in the Underworld's background as ambiance.
  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Bone Serpent: "Mighty serpentine dragons once ruled hell, but long ago shed their obsidian scales. A skeletal husk is all that remains."
