Using the Candy Corn Rifle to attack Target Dummies. Note how the projectiles can pierce two enemies and ricochet four times.

The Candy Corn Rifle is a Hardmode, post-Plantera gun that fires Candy Corn as ammunition. Candy Corn shots pierce up to two enemies and ricochet up to four times, dissipating on their fifth impact or upon hitting a third enemy. The gun has a high fire rate, but unlike most guns, its projectiles are affected by gravity and do not remain airborne for long, though their ricocheting ability helps them gain distance. The Candy Corn Rifle also has a base 10% critical strike chance as opposed to the usual 4%, and has a 1/3 (33.33%) chance not to consume ammo.

The Candy Corn Rifle is dropped by the Pumpking during the Pumpkin Moon event with a 1.56–12.5% (6.25–12.5%) chance depending on the current wave.[1] When dropped, the Candy Corn Rifle is always accompanied by 50 to 100 Candy Corn. Additional Candy Corn can also be bought from the Arms Dealer for 5 CC each if the Candy Corn Rifle is in the player's inventory.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • Despite its name, Candy Corn is not a food item, and cannot be consumed.

Trivia

  • The Candy Corn Rifle appears to be based off of the Mauser C96, a real-life pistol used during World War I and II, with candy corns attached to the top and on the magazine.
  • Candy corn is a contentiously popular candy typically eaten during Halloween, mostly found in the United States. Its name comes from its resemblance to raw corn kernels, and has a layered flavor based around a mixture of vanilla, honey, sugar, and butter.
