Chillet and Chillet Ignis are pre-Hardmode mount-summoning items. When used, they summon the Chillet or Chillet Ignis mount, respectively, which increases damage dealt by weapons by 10% while mounted and is capable of performing a dash attack by double-tapping either the ◀ Left or ▶ Right key. Dashing into an enemy deals 32 base summon damage, inflicts a knockback of 6 (Average), and grants the player 0.17 seconds of invincibility frames. Chillet and Chillet Ignis are functionally identical, and either variant can be obtained from the Huge Dragon Egg at a 50% chance.[1]

Like other Pals, Chillet and Chillet Ignis can only be summoned once and they can be petted using Open / Activate.[2]

Notes

  • Riding Chillet does not change the player's hitbox height.
  • Chillet's top running speed is 46 mph, reachable in 2.5 seconds.
  • Chillet reduces fall damage by 50%.[3]
  • Chillet's dash performs a tiny hop when activated.
  • During Chillet's dash, facing away from the direction Chillet is dashing will cause the dash to immediately end.

Tips

  • The large amount of invincibility frames Chillet's dash grants on hit consistently protects the player from contact damage, making it an incredibly powerful tool against bosses like the Eye of Cthulhu, Queen Bee, and Skeletron. With Featherfall Potions and extra jumps, this can even be great into Hardmode bosses such as Duke Fishron and Plantera.
  • Chillet's dash having a uniquely vertical angle compared to other dashes can be utilized in conjunction with extra jumps to activate them immediately after performing a dash from the ground.
  • Having to face the same way to keep dashing is unique to Chillet's dash and has both drawbacks and advantages:
    • It limits the effectiveness of the dash as a means of attacking while retreating, as this would force the player to face the opposite direction of the dash. Dashes performed in this way have a very short window in which they are able to hit enemies and do not move nearly as fast, though they are still able to redirect Chillet's momentum.
    • It can be utilized to intentionally cut dashes short if they would overshoot their target area, or if they were unintentional in the first place.
    • Due to how the cooldown period before Chillet is able to dash again begins once Chillet exits the dashing state, ending dashes almost immediately after starting them can allow Chillet to dash again in a far shorter time than any other dash in the game would allow while still being able to redirect its momentum with each "microdash".

Trivia

  • Chillet and Chillet Ignis are part of the crossover with Palworld. Their signature move in Palworld, "Rocket Slam", is referenced in Terraria by the dash attack. Moreover, the damage increase while mounted is a reference to Chillet's partner skill in Palworld, which increases the player's attack stat and changes the element of their weapons to dragon-type.
  • While the Huge Dragon Egg is worth 1 GC, the hatched Chillet and Chillet Ignis only sell for a hundredth of this value.
  • Chillet and Chillet Ignis have different rarity levels despite being functionally identical and obtainable from the same source.
    • Similarly to all other Pals, this is likely intended to make the colors of their rarities match their respective color schemes, instead of following the standard rarity system.
