Cobwebs break and slow down players when touched.

Cobwebs are crafting materials used to craft Silk and other items. Cobwebs can also be placed. Placed Cobwebs catch players who fall into them and reset fall damage. They break after a short time when a player is stuck in them, and they can also be harvested instantly with any weapon or swung tool.

Cobwebs are commonly found in underground areas in clusters of 5 or more alongside the edges of walls or ceilings, and are guaranteed to drop a Cobweb item when broken. They are also found in large quantities in Spider Nests, where they regrow over time; however, Cobwebs found there only have a 1/4 (25%) chance to drop when broken.

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) In Expert Mode Don't dig up and Get fixed boi worlds, web spit attack from Black Recluses and Jungle Creepers can randomly place Cobwebs in a 13×13 rectangular area centered on the location where Web Spit projectiles disappear.

Notes

• When the player is stuck in Cobweb tiles and does not leave them, a single Cobweb tile is broken after a random period between 0.33 seconds and 1.67 seconds. Additionally, Cobwebs immediately break if the player collides with them when riding a minecart.
• Placed Cobwebs do not impede the movement of enemies, NPCs, or critters.
• Although Cobwebs have no sell value, they can be crafted into Silk, which has a sell value of 2 SC. At 7 Cobwebs per Silk, this results in a sell value of 28 CC for a Cobweb.
• (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Placed Cobwebs can support falling blocks like Sand and Silt; removing the Cobwebs allows them to fall, causing damage to whatever they hit.

Tips

• Because they slow player movement, Cobwebs can be used in the construction of pits to prevent fall damage.
• It is more resourceful to make Silk Rope instead of Web Rope, as using Silk consumes less Cobweb and yields more rope.
• An easy way to find Cobweb is to use a Dangersense Potion as it highlights the Cobweb on the screen.
