The Dart Pistol is a Hardmode ranged weapon that autofires darts as ammunition, and is the Crimson counterpart to the Corruption's Dart Rifle, with a higher rate of fire but lower damage. It has a 1/5 (20%) chance of being dropped by Crimson Mimics.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

Since it fires neither arrows nor bullets, the Dart Pistol receives the specialized boosts from the Shroomite Helmet.
The Dart Pistol can also fire Seeds, but it does not allow obtaining them like the Blowgun and Blowpipe.

It can be an extremely deadly mid-Hardmode weapon in the right situations when paired with the right darts: Crystal Darts for enclosed areas or crowded enemies close to each other, and Ichor Darts for bosses or enemies with high defense.
- Ichor Darts are also especially useful in situations where dodging is a high priority, for their unique ability to multiply after a short distance, making it easy for at least one dart to hit.
- Furthermore, Ichor Darts are useful for applying the Ichor debuff, even post-Moon Lord. The fact that the Dart Pistol uses darts as ammo means the player can freely use other ammo of their choice with other weapons, without having to worry about switching ammo types mid-fight.
Cursed Darts are useful against groups of grounded enemies, and their combination with the Dart Pistol can make for a powerful method of crowd control with high DPS. However, obtaining them requires creating an artificial Corruption biome with Corrupt Seeds purchased from the Dryad in a Graveyard, or bringing in materials from another world with Corruption or a drunk world.
- Cursed Darts can also serve as an excellent weapon for The Destroyer, granted that the darts are shot above the boss.

The Dart Pistol could be considered the Hardmode version of The Undertaker, seeing how both are obtainable in worlds containing the Crimson and bear some visual resemblances. The only functional difference between the two is that The Undertaker consumes bullets as ammunition instead of darts.
The Dart Pistol is not capable of using the Rifle Scope or any of its upgrades to zoom in on targets, likely due to it not being considered a gun.
The Dart Pistol and Dart Rifle have around the same overall DPS, despite their differences in damage and use time.
