Frostburn is a debuff that prevents health regeneration. It also causes damage over time effect when inflicted on entities. When inflicted on player, they will lose (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 8 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 6 health per second; when inflicted on non-player entities (enemies, town NPCs, etc.), they will lose 8 health per second. If the non-player entity is Oiled, they will take 33 damage per second instead.

On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, there is a stronger version of Frostburn debuff, called Frostbite.

The debuff is very useful early to mid-game, as only 32 enemies in the game are immune to it. On Old-gen console version Old-gen console and 3DSNintendo 3DS version, no enemies inflict Frostburn.
