“Either you have style, or you get styled.
Hairstyles determine how the player's hair appears. A limited set of hairstyles are available during character creation, while all (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 165 / (Old-gen console version) 123 are available for purchase from the Stylist(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions). Hair color can also be chosen at character creation, or through the Stylist.

Notes
- Certain vanity items also serve as hairstyles. Some vanity items that can be equipped on the head slot still show the player's hair, such as a Witch Hat.
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) When using the randomize option during character creation, the chosen hairstyle determines the player's gender. 69 hairstyles will set the gender to female, while the remaining 81 will set it to male.[1]
Trivia
- Hairstyles 109 and 124 through 132 resemble alien-looking and -themed hairstyles.
- Hairstyle 4 resembles the signature wide flat-top hairstyle of Guile from the Street Fighter series.
- Hairstyles 24 and 132 look very similar to the Super Saiyan hair from the Japanese anime television series Dragon Ball Z, as Saiyans are considered a different species.
- Hairstyles 26 and 20 look similar to those of the two fictional characters Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, respectively, from the American epic space-opera media franchise Star Wars.
- Hairstyles 126 and 127 look similar to Floran hairstyles from the action-adventure video game Starbound.
- Hairstyles 82 and 84 resemble the two fictional characters Sailor Moon and Rini from the Japanese shōjo manga series Sailor Moon.
- Hairstyle 52, 53, and 54 respectively resemble the White Mage, Black Mage, and Fighter's hair from the NES and MSX version of the fantasy role-playing video game Final Fantasy.
- Hairstyle 78 bears a resemblance to Filius Flitwick from the fantasy novel series Harry Potter.
- Hairstyle 107 resembles Madeline from the video game Celeste.
- Hairstyle 44 bears resemblence to Jin's hair from the fighting game series Tekken.
- Hairstyle 163 resembles the hairstyle that the Princess has.
- Hairstyle 135 resembles Rosalina's hair from Super Mario Galaxy, evidenced further by the existence of the Star Princess set which references the same character.
- Hairstyles 53, 77 and 110 give the player visible eyebrows.
- Hairstyles 164 and 165 resemble the hairstyles of Wilson and Willow, characters from the video game Don't Starve.

- Desktop 1.4.4:
- Most of the Stylist haircuts are now available when creating a character.
- When randomizing a character, more hairstyles are available to be rolled.
- Desktop 1.4.3: Added 2 new hairstyles.
- Desktop 1.4.1: Added a hairstyle identical to the one worn by the Princess.
- Desktop 1.4.0.3: Fixed an issue where Stylist-only hairs were inadvertently available by randomizing your character.
- Desktop 1.4.0.1: Added 28 new hairstyles.

- Added 11 new hairstyles.
- Sprites of hairstyles 1-51 updated.
