Hallowed armor is a Hardmode armor set consisting of the Hallowed Plate Mail and Hallowed Greaves, as well as four different headpieces: the Hallowed Mask, Hallowed Helmet, Hallowed Headgear, and Hallowed Hood, providing bonuses for the melee, ranged, mage, and summoner classes respectively. Crafting a full set with one headpiece requires a total of 54 Hallowed Bars. Crafting all six pieces requires a total of 90 Hallowed Bars.

Hallowed armor pieces are interchangeable with pieces from the Ancient Hallowed armor set.

The full set grants the following effects while equipped:

Tips

  • Crafting any of the helmets and selling them is more profitable than selling the bars required to make them.
  • Since the value of Holy Protection depends on how much damage the player would have taken in a single hit, wearing Hallowed armor is one of the best ways to increase survivability while using an offensive-focused accessory loadout.
  • The Hallowed Mask provides enormous defense and considerable melee bonuses, and can be substituted onto other armor sets (such as Turtle armor or Squire armor) for significantly improved overall stats.
  • Unlike other summoner armors, the summoner variant of Hallowed armor provides modest bonuses to melee, ranged, and magic, making it a formidable mixed-class armor set.

Trivia

Drafts from the beta stage of the Hallowed armor's 1.4.0.1 resprite (from Leinfors on Discord).
  • The Hallowed Hood provides the lowest defense out of all Hardmode armor pieces.
    • Additionally, the Hallowed summoner set provides lower summon damage than Spider armor, an early Hardmode summoner armor set, with the former providing only +17% summon damage, compared to the latter's +28% summon damage. This is compensated for with the extra survivability provided by the Hallowed summoner set.
  • Sometimes, the heads of the duplicates created by Holy Protection will not be visible.
  • Hallowed armor is the only armor set that has variations for all four classes.
  • According to Redigit, the Hallowed armor's design is inspired by the paladin armor of Cecil Harvey, the protagonist of Final Fantasy IV.[1]
    • The resemblance is most apparent when the armor is worn with Hallowed Headgear.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4.8:
    • No longer transmutes into Ancient Hallowed armor in Shimmer. Instead, it decrafts to Hallowed Bars.
    • Fixed an issue where Holy Protection would persist on the player after removing Hallowed armor.
  • Desktop 1.4.4:
    • Tooltips of summon-related items now say "summon damage" instead of "minion damage".
    • Holy Protection buff no longer starts its cooldown immediately at the time the buff starts, but instead begins the 30-second cooldown when the dodge is performed.
    • Changed Holy Protection buff being activated by attacking an enemy with a 25% chance to activate, to a 100% chance anytime not on cooldown.
  • Desktop 1.4.1: Fixed an issue where attacks dodged with Holy Protection could still result in debuffs on the player.
  • Desktop 1.4.0.1:
    • Sprites updated.
    • Added new summoner helmet and set bonus, previously obtained from Titanium armor.
    • Hallowed Mask tooltip changed to say "melee speed" instead of "melee haste".
  • Desktop 1.2: Changed crafting recipe: Now uses only Hallowed Bars to craft, instead of souls and previous tiers of armor.
  • Console 1.02: Changed crafting recipe: Now uses only Hallowed Bars to craft, instead of Souls and previous tiers of armor.
  • Mobile 1.2.6508: Changed crafting recipe: Now uses only Hallowed Bars to craft, instead of Souls and previous tiers of armor.
