Halloween

Halloween is a seasonal event which lasts from around mid-October until around the start of November. During Halloween, Goodie Bags have a 1/80 (1.25%) chance of being dropped by any enemy (except for statue-spawned enemies, Meteor Heads, and Old One's Army enemies).[1] Hearts are also replaced with Candy Apples, and Stars are replaced with Soul Cakes. Additionally, several enemies wear costumes that change their appearance, a few unique enemies begin spawning, and new items are available for purchase from NPCs or as rare drops from enemies. Pumpkins also begin to grow naturally on grass during Halloween.
The duration of the event depends on the game platform:

(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Reaching wave 15 of the Pumpkin Moon before 4:30 AM displays the status message "The spirit of Halloween penetrates the air..." at the dawn of the following day, causing the Halloween season to temporarily become active for one in-game day, regardless of the date. At 4:30 AM the next day, the status message "The spirit of Halloween rests..." appears, and all Halloween-related effects will no longer occur unless the Halloween season is active or the 15th wave of the Pumpkin Moon is achieved again.[2]

Tips
- Halloween can be "activated" by setting the device's date to any date within the respective Halloween timespan.
Change the computer's date to any day between October 10th and November 1st.
Disconnect from
Xbox Live /
PSN and change the console time.
Disconnect from automatic date/time updates and change the time manually. Note that this does not work for some devices.
Go to "System Settings" and set the date there.
Go to "System Settings" and go to "system", click on "Date and Time" and set the time there.
- If a change of the device's time is undesired, applications like RunAsDate allow launching Terraria with a changed time and date.
Trivia
- The tree in the Halloween logo appears to be made of Spooky Wood, an item which drops in bulk during the similarly-themed Pumpkin Moon event.
