The Holy Arrow is a Hardmode arrow. Upon contact with enemies or blocks, two Hallow Star projectiles will fall from the sky to the impact location. The stars deal 1/3 (33.33%) of the combined damage of the arrow and weapon, and do not pierce.

Notes

  • The first Hallow Star is spawned once the arrow projectile is destroyed, either by hitting a solid block or an enemy. It will fall at a random angle from the top of the screen to the location where the arrow was destroyed, passing through all blocks. Once it reaches that location, terrain penetration is deactivated and it will be destroyed upon hitting a block or an enemy. Afterward, the second Hallow Star will be spawned. Its target location is where the first star was destroyed.
    • If the arrow is not properly destroyed, e.g. because it leaves the screen and despawns, the Hallow Stars will not be spawned. Similarly, the second Hallow Star will not be spawned if the first Hallow Star is not properly destroyed.
  • The Hallow Star projectiles will not benefit from the Magic Quiver's velocity boost.

Tips

  • The falling star effect makes Holy Arrows exceptionally effective against bosses and other large enemies, most prominently Plantera. The Chlorophyte Shotbow is great when paired with them.
  • They are powerful with bows that shoot multiple arrows, such as the Tsunami, as each arrow that hits will summon a pair of stars.
  • Holy Arrows remain useful even after defeating Plantera and Golem, being an excellent option for killing the Martian Saucer, even in Expert Mode.
