The Jungle Creeper is a Hardmode enemy that spawns in the Underground Jungle, and resembles a Black Recluse colored brown with a bit of green and climbs on background walls similarly to other spiders. On the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, it has a 1/10 (10%) chance to inflict the Acid Venom debuff for 4 / 8 / 10 seconds. In Expert Mode(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), it gains a special spit attack that inflicts the Webbed debuff for 0.5–2.5 seconds.

Notes

  • Like all spiders, Jungle Creepers cannot travel through a vertical 2-tile wide shaft.
  • (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) Jungle Creepers seem to be weaker than most enemies at the time making them more of a hassle than a real danger.
  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The cooldown between web spit attacks lasts 3 seconds. It is paused if the Jungle Creeper loses focus on the player or has no direct line of fire, and it is increased by between 0.33 and 1 second when the Jungle Creeper takes damage.[1]
  • In For the worthy(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) and Get fixed boi(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) worlds, the Jungle Creeper's web spit projectiles randomly place Cobwebs within a 13×13 rectangular area when the projectile disappears.[2]

Trivia

  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The Jungle Creeper is the strongest spider enemy in the game, being stronger than the Black Recluse, the Blood Crawler, and the Wall Creeper.
  • The BestiaryBestiary entry for the Jungle Creeper: "The itsy bitsy spider climbed up a jungle vine, down came a hapless explorer and the spider got to dine. The End."

History

  • Desktop 1.4.1:
    • Sprites updated.
    • Significantly increased stats: damage from 50 to 100, defense from 14 to 40, maximum health from 120 to 400, moves faster, inflicts the Acid Venom debuff, and spits web in Expert/Master.
