Legacy:Fishing poles

 

This is the Legacy page whose information relates to the article Fishing poles.
It applies only to the Old-gen console and 3DS versions of Terraria, detailing their differences from modern versions.

There are (Old-gen console version) 9 / (3DS version) 8 different fishing poles, 4 of which are craftable, (Old-gen console version) 4 / (3DS version) 3 are sold or awarded by NPCs, and 1 is found in Chests or crates.

In these versions:

• The Fiberglass Fishing Pole has 27% Fishing Power and its chance of being found in Ivy Chests is 49/2500 (1.96%).
• The Mechanic's Rod has 30% Fishing Power and is only sold in Hardmode, during a Waning Crescent moon.
• The chance of being rewarded with a Hotline Fishing Hook is 1/75 (1.33%).
• (Old-gen console version) The Golden Fishing Rod is obtained from the Angler upon completion of the 50th quest instead.

Notes

• The Hotline Fishing Hook provides the only method to fish in lava, which makes lava fishing exclusive to Hardmode. The other fishing poles cannot be used for lava fishing under any circumstances.

Trivia

• Since the Golden Fishing Rod cannot be used to fish in lava, the best possible fishing setup in lava is slightly less efficient than the best fishing setup in water/honey.
