The Magma Stone is an accessory that causes the wearer's melee attacks to inflict the Hellfire debuff for up to 6 seconds on enemies.[1] It also causes direct hits from melee weapons to inflict the Hellfire debuff, and melee projectiles to inflict the On Fire! debuff for up to 6 seconds against other players in PvP.[2] The Magma Stone also adds orange flame particle effects on the sprites of both the weapon and its projectiles that give off light. It has a 1/50 (2%) chance to be dropped by Lava Bats and a 1/150 (0.67%) chance to be dropped by Hellbats in The Underworld.

Notes

Tips

  • Lava Bats are three times more likely to drop this item than Hellbats, so it is significantly easier to farm after defeating a mechanical boss.
  • The Magma Stone's effects stack with those of Frost armor, flasks, and the Shadowflame Knife.
  • Using the Magma Stone with any yoyo is useful for quickly mapping out underground caverns.
  • The Magma Stone can be very useful when dealing with The Hungry. However, the Wall of Flesh itself is immune to the debuff inflicted by the Magma Stone.

History

  • Desktop 1.3.0.1: Duration of the debuff on enemies increased from 1/2/6 seconds (4/7, 3/7, 1/7 chance respectively, average of 2 seconds) to 2/4/6 seconds (2/8, 3/8, 3/8 chance respectively, average of 3.75 seconds). The debuff duration when inflicted on other players in PvP remains unchanged.
  • Desktop 1.2.1: No longer shows a fire effect for non-melee weapons.
