The Magma Stone is an accessory that drops from Lava Bats (2% chance) and Hellbats (0.67% chance) in The Underworld. It causes the wearer's melee attacks to inflict the (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Hellfire / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) On Fire! debuff on enemies, and also add orange flame particles effect on both the weapon sprite and their projectile that gives off light. The duration of the debuff is random, and varies according to the table on the right.

  • Lava Bats are three times more likely to drop this item than Hellbats, so farming for it in Hardmode is more efficient than in pre-Hardmode.
  • The Magma Stone's effects stack with those of Frost armor, flasks, and the Shadowflame Knife(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions).
  • Using the Magma Stone with any yoyo(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) is useful for quickly mapping out underground caverns.
  • The Magma Stone can be very useful when dealing with the Hungry. However, the Wall of Flesh itself is immune to both debuffs inflicted by the Magma Stone.

  • Desktop 1.4.1: Now inflicts Hellfire, a variant of On Fire! that does 15 DPS instead of 4.
  • Desktop 1.2.1: Magma Stone will no longer show a fire effect for non melee weapons.
