The Magma Stone is an accessory that causes the wearer's melee attacks to inflict the Hellfire debuff on enemies and the On Fire! debuff on other players. The duration of the debuff varies according to the table on the right; it lasts 2 seconds on average against enemies and 3.75 seconds against players. The Magma Stone also adds orange flame particle effects on the sprites of both the weapon and its projectiles that give off light. It has a 1/50 (2%) chance to be dropped by Lava Bats and a 1/150 (0.67%) chance to be dropped by Hellbats in The Underworld.

Notes

Though the tooltip does not specifically say so, the fire effect works not only on melee weapons, but also tools that inflict melee damage, such as pickaxes, axes and hammers.
Whips are not affected by the Magma Stone, despite being affected by many melee-related stats, and even some of the other bonuses of the Fire Gauntlet.

Tips

Lava Bats are three times more likely to drop this item than Hellbats, so it is significantly easier to farm after defeating a mechanical boss.
The Magma Stone's effects stack with those of Frost armor, flasks, and the Shadowflame Knife.
Using the Magma Stone with any yoyo is useful for quickly mapping out underground caverns.
The Magma Stone can be very useful when dealing with The Hungry. However, the Wall of Flesh itself is immune to the debuff inflicted by the Magma Stone.
