Meteor armor is an armor set that consists of the Meteor Helmet, Meteor Suit, and Meteor Leggings. Equipping the full set reduces the mana cost of the Space Gun to 0. In the Desktop version Desktop version, Console version Console version, and Mobile version Mobile version, the Gray Zapinator and Orange Zapinator are also affected by this change. Each piece of the armor worn increases magic damage by (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 9% / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 7%. If the full set is visible, the player leaves a trail of flames as they move.

Crafting a full set requires a total of (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 45 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 60 Meteorite Bars ((Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)135 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 180 Meteorite ore).

Tips

  • In versions prior to 1.4, it could be beneficial for players to aim to destroy a Shadow Orb (or Crimson Heart) as quickly as possible, as the Meteor armor and the Space Gun make for a strong combination in early pre-Hardmode. In 1.4, Meteorite will not spawn before the player kills the Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu, but the Meteor armor with the Space Gun still remains a very useful combination after that.
  • Meteorite Bars can be found in Gold Chests in the lower 250 tiles of the Cavern layer above the Underworld, allowing Meteor Armor to be obtained prior to defeating the Eater of Worlds / Brain of Cthulhu. They can also be obtained from Shadow Chests in the Underworld.
  • Oddly enough, the set bonus also affects the Gray Zapinator and Orange Zapinator, which makes this armor set useful into Hardmode. However, the lack of defense will be a great drawback.

Trivia

  • (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) The fire particle effect can be altered by dyes. Using different dye in each slot of the armor causes the colors to blend.
  • Despite the Meteorite Helmet requiring the fewest bars to craft, it sells for the most, which is the case for many armor sets.
  • Even though the Space Gun, Gray Zapinator, and Orange Zapinator cost 0 mana to use while wearing the full armor set, only the Space Gun has its mana cost tooltip removed. Both the Gray Zapinator and Orange Zapinator state they still cost the full amount of mana.
