Monk armor is a Hardmode armor set purchased from the Tavernkeep for 450000*45 Defender Medal in total after defeating any mechanical boss, and provides summon as well as melee damage bonuses. The set consists of the Monk's Bushy Brow Bald Cap, Monk's Shirt, and Monk's Pants.

A full set of Monk armor provides the following stats:

Additionally, wearing the full set will increase the attack rate of the Lightning Aura sentry summons and will cause them to deal critical hits with a fixed 16.67% chance.

The Shinobi Infiltrator armor can be considered a direct upgrade of the Monk armor.

Notes

  • The total bonus to the max number of sentries is +2, allowing 3 to be summoned at once without any other upgrades.

Tips

  • The Monk armor and Squire armor both provide melee benefits. While the Squire armor has a higher melee critical strike chance increase, the Monk armor's increased melee speed means that (especially against enemies with low defense) it does more damage overall. This is especially true when accounting for whips which are affected by melee speed bonuses, but not by melee damage bonuses. The Squire armor has more defense and a higher regeneration rate to compensate.
  • The Monk armor is a powerful armor against the mechanical bosses (once the player has defeated one to get it) and Plantera. Its bonuses are better than Hallowed armor, and having multiple Spider Turret or Lightning Aura sentries makes the fight much easier, especially against Plantera. However, the Holy Protection provided by the Hallowed armor may be preferable.
    • The stationary nature of Lightning Auras makes it inefficient against The Twins and Skeletron Prime. The Queen Spider may be better, however, the mobility of this weapon is limited to the ground.
    • It may be wise to swap out the spider helmet for a Monk’s bushy brow bald cap. This is due to the fact that it provides a melee speed boost, which also applies to whips. This will make it perform as a Hardmode Obsidian armor of some sort.
