The Night Owl Potion is a buff potion that grants the Night Owl buff when consumed. The buff improves the player's night vision, and sharply increases the radius of any available light source. The buff itself has no effect in total darkness. This lasts for 10 minutes, but can be canceled at any time by right-clicking the icon (Desktop version), by selecting the icon using Cycle Next/Previous Buff and then pressing Remove Buff (Console version), or by double-tapping the buff icon (Mobile version).

In addition to being crafted, Night Owl Potions can be found in Pots, Chests, and Crates.

Notes

  • The night vision given by this potion is the same as the one provided by Night Vision Helmet and cannot be stacked with it.

Tips

  • The ingredients of this potion, the Daybloom and Blinkroot, are exceedingly common and can easily be grown in Clay Pots or Planter Boxes or just farmed naturally within one's base.
  • Combined with the Shine Potion, it is possible to see about half the screen using nothing but basic, low-level ingredients that far outshine the Shadow Orb or other mobile light sources for exploration.

History

  • Desktop 1.0.6:
    • Fixed a bug where the potion had absolutely no effect when consumed.
    • Duration reduced from 10 to 4 minutes.
