The Obsidian Skin Potion is a buff potion which grants the Obsidian Skin buff when consumed. The buff makes the player immune to lava and the On Fire! debuff. It also grants immunity to the Burning debuff from touching Meteorite, Hellstone, Hellstone Bricks, and Ancient Hellstone Bricks for its duration. This lasts for 6 minutes, but can be canceled at any time by right-clicking the icon (Desktop version), by selecting the icon using Cycle Next/Previous Buff and then pressing Remove Buff (Console version), or by double-tapping the buff icon (Mobile version).

In addition to being crafted, Obsidian Skin Potions can be found in pots and Shadow Chests in the Underworld, as well as in crates.

Notes

Tips

  • This item is commonly used to facilitate the mining of Hellstone, which excretes half a tile of lava when mined. Since Hellstone is also found under lava lakes, the potion enables players to dive for it as well.
  • While the Fireblossom can easily be collected in the Underworld, the Waterleaf will have to first be collected from the Desert biome. Alternatively, the player may use a personal plant garden to grow the required plants.

Trivia

  • The Obsidian Skin buff was the first buff ever added to the game.
