Palladium Ore belongs to the first tier of the early Hardmode ores. Upon the first altar broken, either it or Cobalt Ore can spawn in the underground and cavern layers. Mining Palladium Ore requires a Molten Pickaxe or better.

As with all early Hardmode ores, decreasing quantities of the ore spawn with every third altar broken afterwards, it is immune to explosives, and it can be obtained from Hardmode crates.

Trivia

  • In real life, palladium is an element that is silvery-white in color, although it forms several compounds with an orange or red-brown color. It has a wide range of applications including jewelry and electronics, but its most common use is as a chemical catalyst.
  • There is a very small chance that a meteor can hit an altar, spawning a small amount of Cobalt or Palladium. This will do nothing if it happens in pre-Hardmode.
