The Poltergeist is a Hardmode, post-Plantera enemy that begins to spawn during (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) wave 4 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) wave 5 of the Pumpkin Moon event. It behaves similarly to a Wraith, (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) except it can fly freely through the air without needing solid ground to hover on.
Defeating a Poltergeist during the Pumpkin Moon event will add (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) 10 / 20 / 25 / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) 8 points to the final score.[1]
The Poltergeist requires 100 kills to be awarded completion of its Bestiary entry and corresponding banner, as opposed to the usual 50 kills.
Trivia
- A poltergeist is a type of ghost or spirit that is responsible for physical disturbances, such as loud noises and objects being moved or destroyed. Most claims about or fictional descriptions of poltergeists show them as capable of pinching, biting, hitting, and tripping people. They are also depicted as capable of the movement or levitation of objects such as furniture and cutlery, or noises such as knocking on doors.
- The
Bestiary entry for the Poltergeist: "The intense hateful energies emanating from these spirits grant them the ability to move objects, truly for the purpose of killing."
