Notes
- (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Similarly to Gel, Shark Fins dropped by Sand Sharks will have special coloration. The first Shark Fin in a stack determines the color of the rest.
- If two differently colored stacks of Shark Fins are combined, the new stack takes on the color of the stack put onto the other, no matter the stack size.
- Shark Fins will always appear as the default color on Item Frames. However, hovering over the Item Frame shows an unobtainable white-colored Shark Fin.
- The Quick stack animation always shows the default colored Shark Fin.
- Shark Fin color will return to the default color if the player drops or places it on an Item Frame and picks it back up or exits a world and rejoins.
Tips
- Sharks themselves can be frustratingly rare in the Oceans, so various alternatives can be taken to acquire Shark Fins:
- Hunting the Ocean during a Blood Moon will find a good deal more Sharks, as well as the enemies producing some scarce dyes. A Gills Potion (or in Hardmode, a Neptune's Shell or upgrade) will help, or the player can build a breathing area underwater.
- In Hardmode, it might be easier to obtain Shark Fins from Sand Sharks as they spawn in the surface layer of the desert during a Sandstorm.
- Shark Fins can also be obtained from Shark Statues.
- As with all mob farms, the player can use the Water Candle and Battle Potion to increase spawn rate.
