This article is about the tool. For other uses, see Sickle (disambiguation).
A player obtaining Hay with a Sickle.

The Sickle is a tool that produces Hay blocks when used to cut tall grass. The collected Hay can be used for building purposes and crafted into Target Dummies and Hay Walls. Due to its comparably potent damage-dealing capabilities (only slightly inferior to the Tin Broadsword) and its ability to autoswing, it can also be used as a melee weapon in the very early game.

The Sickle is purchased from the Merchant for 60 SC. On the Old-gen console version Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version, it is only available during the Halloween season.

Its best modifier is Light for harvesting purposes and Legendary for combat purposes.

Notes

  • The Sickle will harvest Hay from tall grass and flowers growing on pure, Jungle, Corrupt, Crimson, or Hallowed grass.
    • Note that tall plants will yield more than other plants: short plants yield 1 or 2 Hay while tall plants yield 2 to 4 Hay.[1]

Tips

  • The Sickle facilitates obtaining an infinite source of building material, since tall grass always regrows.
    • Massive amounts of Hay can be created by using the Flower Boots on a patch of grass and swinging the Sickle. The Flower Boots will regrow tall grass as soon as the Sickle cuts it down.
  • Using the Sickle to cut grass does not prevent the player from obtaining seeds for the Blowpipe.
