The Starcrash is a pre-Hardmode whip with a tag effect of +2 damage, and it has a 30% multihit penalty. It also has a special effect of marking enemies with primed energy on hit. When a minion or sentry damages an enemy marked by the Starcrash, a meteor is summoned above the enemy and falls upon it, dealing 1.33× the damage from the minion or sentry's attack to enemies within a 4×4-tile area. The mark is only applied to one enemy per strike, and the explosion effect only triggers once per mark (the regular tag damage is not limited by this effect).

Its best modifier is Legendary.

Tips

  • Because the meteor effect multiplies damage dealt instead of giving an additive tag damage increase, it works best with minions that have high base damage like the Imp Staff or Ballista Rod. It is particularly effective when paired with the Abigail's Flower due to its unique ability to increase minion damage based on the number of slots invested in them.
  • Due to its unique tag multiplier effect, the whip can be useful in early Hardmode if the Firecracker did not drop from the Wall of Flesh.
