It used to emit light when used (even through solid blocks), and players would use it to explore. It was quite handy when searching for Enchanted Sword Shrine shafts. – Ferretwings ^(talk) 12:38, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

The exploit is likely the glitch that allowed floating Monoliths to infinitely drop copies of themselves. Since Monoliths sell for 20g, it could get you money extremely quickly. – KM100 ^(talk) 19:38, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
