The table needs updating

Gotta add the new Icy Bow to this page

This page is lacking the newly added 1.1 Repeater crossbows, despite linking to the Crossbows to this Bow page.

-Table needs to be updated for 1.2 arrows. -Does the Ice Bow gain more power from using different arrows, as the table says or do all arrows do the same damage as they are converted to Frost Arrows?(what are the stats of Frost Arrows anyway?)

Use time of Hellwing bow differs from value on bow's page. What value is correct, 12 or 13? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ter56585 (talk • contribs) at 15:5815:58, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out... I fixed it. Ferretwings (talk) 21:33, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

'Bow' or 'Bows' discussion

I believe this page should be moved to Bow, in keeping with the precedent set by Sword, Hammer, etc. Sathka 18:02, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Seconding this. It makes more sense to move this page to Bow. --MissDolyl 11:38, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Thirded, for what it's worth. I say make "Bows" redirect to "Bow." --InfinityX 13:57, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Actually, the pages you're linking to are "sword" and "hammers" respectively. Also, what aboutGuns and Flails and Pickaxes? Should rename those, too? Also, having it as singular doesn't make sense, as this page is overlapping all of the bows in the game. --166.205.9.36 17:57, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

I disagree, it's a page talking about multiple items, why would it be singular? Why would any of the item pages describing a group of items be singular? -- 66.43.242.81 07:47, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Because it is describing a type of item, and because it can be used singular: "It greatly helps to have a Bow". Using your argument, we should move "Eye of Cthulhu" to "Eyes of Cthulhu" because the articles talks about all Eyes of Cthulhu in general. happypal (talk • contribs) 08:06, 9 June 2011 (UTC).
I think it should be called Bow as well, but I'm still questionable over Tools. I still like how Tools sounds over Tool, but that's just me. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 21:57, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

DPS

The Repeaters page has damage shown by damage per second, not damage per hit, which makes more sense because of different use times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bantya (talk • contribs) at 00:30, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

DPS is just math, and it makes for an imperfect measure of a weapon's damage, particularly in a real-time action game. Just accounting for damage*ROF is relatively arbitrary when you add in factors like bullet spread, projectile speed, the target's defense and special properties of the weapon, not to mention things that exist outside of a testing vacuum like terrain and player accuracy. I wouldn't recommend switching other weapon types over to DPS calculation.
Additionally, Repeaters does still list base damage and use time, so at the very least whoever assembled the chart felt that DPS was a rubric worth mentioning rather than an outright replacement damage calculation. I would say that there are problems with the layout of both pages, particularly the rift between bows listing so many arrow types on one chart versus repeaters choosing three shot types seemingly at random, since neither looks optimal. Of course, that may just be my aversion to "single line of text leading into big numbered list" pages acting up again. Were it up to me, both would be disambiguation pages, but alas. Pre-hardmode and hardmode

It would look a lot better and be more helpful if there was 2 separate tables - pre-hardmode and hardmode so it wasn't just mixed up together Cr4zyw4rrior (talk) 07:45, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

The table

Please, i cant even reas the table properly if you dont put pre hardmode on top and hardmode on bottom(based on damage or time of obtain(possible, like shadewood after iron bow) Player2170 (talk) 04:41, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

The Pulsebow is now available after defeating all 3 mech bosses

The "Source" column can be edited on the Ranged weapons page (it is transferred here so that all the information doesn't need to be edited in two places). I have fixed it there, thanks for mentioning. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:10, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
