Bomb

Not like a normal bomb... it can destroy obsidian, not sure about dungeon blocks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.185.155.117 at 03:20, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

"Rare"

I have only seen clowns spawn in close proximity to my main base, but during blood moons (on hardmode) that I've spent near my base, they seem to spawn quite a bit--I've seen 3 of them, and I think I've only been at my base during two blood moons. Perhaps it's not a matter of them being rare, but some sort of requirement that they can only spawn close to NPCs? --Manxome 19:54, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

I've seen one during a blood moon in the hallowed biome around my house. But only one. Golden Flame0 08:17, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Not spawning underground eh?

I had one spawn in my cellar, nearly 25 or so tiles below surface in an enclosed place and start destroying my below ground house. The only thing that stopped it from completely ruining the place and killing my NPCs (the ones the wraiths didn't kill) was he blew up my obsidian maker and died in the lava. I think that the description for the enemy or (more prefered) the enemy should be SEVERLY dipped in overall ability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.200.116.7 at 23:30, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Confusion is understandable, but the page probably means that clowns do not spawn in the Underground Layer, which on many worlds is quite a bit lower than 25 tiles beneath the highest naturally-occurring dirt blocks. As far as I know, nothing in the entire game cares whether you are above or below naturally-occuring dirt.
If practical, you might consider placing Walls in your cellar to prevent monster spawns. --Manxome 02:13, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
By hiding out underground, what was presumably meant was away from your base. Like, half the world away kind of underground. - Spinfx 09:58, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
That's ridiculous. One bullet says that clowns "cannot spawn" if you are underground, another suggests building your house underground to avoid them--neither of those make any sense whatsoever under your interpretation. And there's already a separate bullet point suggesting staying away from structures. It's always possible the page is wrong, but it definitely doesn't mean what you suggest.
Also, deleting other users' comments in an ongoing talk page discussion is seriously poor ettiquette. --Manxome 23:26, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
That's strange... if you look at my posting history I don't ever delete stuff on Talk Pages, but I checked this page's history and saw that I did here. Seriously, I'm sorry but I can't figure out what happened because I do know that's not kosher at all, in fact I think I mentioned that myself a couple weeks back on some other page. Very strange. - Spinfx 04:47, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Perhaps you were looking at a diff, and accidentally clicked a link to edit the old version instead of the current version? In any case, apology accepted. --Manxome 07:38, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Sky spawning

The article suggests building your house in the sky so the clowns can't reach it, but this is what I did, and they seem to have no qualms about spawning on my roof, shortly before destroying it. :) Kzrssk 16:35, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

That may needs to be changed. The bombs are supposedly conformed to gravity which is why I believe someone posted that making a skyhome will render you safe from clowns but I believe that it does not stop the clowns themselves from spawning where you are at.

Do dungeon walls also resist explosion?

Only the bricks are mentioned, but I just want to be sure... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.216.3.65 at 07:08, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

While blocks that are normally resistant to explosive from you are also resistant to clowns, walls are not resistant to explosion at all so you still need to do some repairing if a clown throws a bomb inside your home. --207.126.220.33 20:00, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Alternative defense vs clowns

Since clowns only spawn during a blood moon, it is possible to turn on a bunny/gold fish generator and have them spawn so that they turn into their corrupt counterpart and enabling more spawning of rabbits and fishes to occur. By overloading the mob limit, you can prevent clowns (and other enemies) from spawning. You don't even need a crab engine. --207.126.220.33 20:05, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Droprate of Bananarangs

Is the Droprate really correct? I got up to 3 Bananarangs from one(!) clown. In Detail if got 3 Bananarang-Drops: 1 time 1, 1 time 2, 1 time 3 from 7 only clowns... 2.242.31.214 03:34, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Just consider yourself lucky to get that much. We all have lucky/unlucky moments in terraria. Just a coincidence. Like that time I had 3 blood moons and 5 solar eclipses and a goblin invasion in a row that one horrible time. Pentasquares (talk) 23:22, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

clarification needed

when it says they don't destroy player placed tiles, does that mean they destroy tiles that the game does not consider "player placed"? I need clarification so I know what to do with my stuff before entering hardmode.--Macks2008 (talk) 01:55, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Can someone add this?

I suck at wiki editing and don't know how to add a new section, but can someone add a trivia section saying that them spawning during a Blood Moon is likely a reference to many people's extreme fear of clowns? 172.249.169.192 19:48, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
