the note is giving more credit than that is due to the piercing effect. i have fought a large number of high defense based monsters such as werewolves and possessed armors to tell the knockback is slightly higher than in-game described but there is almost no piercing. it is likely an illusion due to the rapid fire nature. furthermore, this spell doesn't have good accuracy for flying foes due to the spread. 96.15.145.168 16:35, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

You may be right, I'd like to confirm that. Its usefulness definitely declines against higher defense enemies. I still hold that it's effective against the enemies I specifically listed. I didn't try it against the Twins, but I watched a Youtube video where someone downed them while in Mythril caster armor with this. --Theothersteve7 16:40, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Modifier

Is it positive that it can have the Mythical modifier? Maybe I'm just having incredibly bad luck, but I've gone through over 200 platinum worth of reforges, and I haven't gotten Mythical yet 216.59.249.232 00:55, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

It can have the Mythical modifier, i have it both on console and pc. Hope you gets lucky and gets it soon :) Liviaro (talk) 06:01, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

It seems that there is a PS3 specific bug that prevents this from having the Mythical modifier. It can get the Modifier on both the X-Box, and the PC, but not the PS3. The forums have numerous bug reports on this, and I personally have spent roughly 15 000 platinum reforging the Crystal Storm to test it, without ever once seeing Mythical. Though the page says it can't achieve Mythical due to low mana cost, why is it then that it can achieve Masterful? Both prefixes have -x% mana cost, and yet only Mythical is unachievable. I can confirm that Mythical cannot be obtained and yet Masterful can.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.166.250.11 at 13:25, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

After checking I can also confirm that Crystal Storm can (as of 1.2.4.1) obtain the Masterful prefix. I'm not sure what causes Mythical to be unobtainable, so for now I'll only add Masterful as one of the best modifiers the item may have. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 05:06, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
This is because mythical reduces the mana cost by 10%, so from 4 to 3.6, which is rounded again to 4. So the mana cost stays the same and as a result it can't have ~that prefix. However masterful reduces the mana cost to 3.2, which is rounded to 3. So it can have that prefix. --0icke0 (talk) 12:32, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
I have a Mystic Crystal Storm so that might be a valid explanation for that as well 75.67.174.175 23:10, 21 June 2015 (UTC)AnAnonymusTerrariaPlayer

Spinning

Someone removed the info about the shards spinning and said that the info only applies to an older version of the projectile, but what version? Is that info outdated on all versions? 151.229.97.217 11:40, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
