Inaccurate Pounces

The tiger can sometimes hover a target it tries to pounce, leading it to stay hovering over it's target until the pounce ends and it just falls onto the target and deals normal contact damage. This can slow the tiger down, keeping it distracted from being able to help it's summoner.

Characteristics

The desert tiger has 3 visibly unique evolution stages, each being able to be powered up 3 times. This makes the desert tiger act like the stardust dragon, but with a maximum of 9 summons. 24.52.223.17 18:12, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Small correction after having looked at the Desktop version Desktop 1.4.0.5 source code: There is no technical limit to the number of tiger summons. The last tier can be upgraded more than 3 times, given there is a sufficient number of free slots. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 02:15, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Trivia?

The 3rd version of the minion [gold armor] seems very similar to The Tiger that fights beside Kalinag in the Shangri La missions in Far Cry 4. Is there a way to verify if/that the minion is a reference to Far Cry 4? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.36.154.88 at 08:14, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

You can get verification by contacting Re-Logic and asking them about it, e.g. via the forums or Discord. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 02:15, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Desert Tiger Staff can Crit?

The Desert Tiger Staff is the only weapon known which can crit as seen here:

No, it currently cannot crit, like all other summon weapons. (It can, but only when pouncing.) That GIF was released by Re-Logic as a teaser for 1.4, and, like all teasers, was no depiction of guaranteed released content. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 02:15, 18 August 2020 (UTC).
Actually, it is capable of critting due to unknown reasons with it's dash attack, for example as seen here at 4:40 https://youtu.be/lQ7CpX1RPi4) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.117.27.43 at 01:31, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
You're right. According to the Desktop version Desktop 1.4.0.5 source code, the tiger is considered a magic projectile while pouncing, so it can deal magic crits during that attack like any other magic weapon. This also means that its crit chance is affected both by buffs increasing crit chance in general, and by buffs specifically increasing magic crit chance. Thanks for bringing it up again! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 16:10, 6 September 2020 (UTC)

Exact improvements for multiple summons?

Currently there isn't any information on how multiple summons change behavior; I tried doing a quick test, using a Murderous Desert Tiger Staff with no other summoning damage buffs, which has a base damage of 38, on a stationary target dummy, which has no defense, and here's what I found: summoned once, the minimum damage I recorded was 33, and the max 44, which are 85% and 115% respectively of 38, which is expected. Summoned twice, the minimum and maximum damage I recorded were 42 and 58, which are 85% and 115% of 50. Summoned three times, I got a min of 54 and a max of 72, which are 85% and 115% of 63. This was the extent of my testing, so if someone could do more testing, that would be greatly appreciated. The current trend appears to be +~12 per summon or so, but it could change at higher levels

I've taken a look at the Desktop version Desktop 1.4.0.5 source code and it appears each additional summon increases the damage by 33.33% of the base damage. With an unmodified staff, this results in damage values of 33/44/55/...; with a staff that has a base damage of 38, it results in damage values of 38/50/63/... – which matches your test results. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 01:39, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
