Can be summoned at daytime

Quite sure the Empress can be summoned during the day by killing the lacewing. As long as you are in the Hallow, she will spawn. But she hits very very hard if fought during the day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nemo3142 (talkcontribs) at 03:45, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

She can be summoned outside the Hallow as well by releasing a Prismatic Lacewing and killing it before it despawns (which is almost immediately). Sabagegah (talk) 17:33, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Turtle armor against enraged Empress

Similar to the Dungeon Guardian and enraged skeletron prime, attempting to use turtle armor to kill enraged empress results in dealing minimal damage (around 800 from brief testing). Xplodinpinapl64 (talk) 00:01, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Any sources of ,,thorns,, effect are capped at 1000 but Terraria Random attack modifier to either increase or decrease by 15% may sound its lower.

And anyway its suicide to go at her with passive offense As I found IT kinda not viable. Redybird (talk) 02:07, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Arkhalis drop

Im not to sure, but the Empress can maybe drop the arkhalis. It seems to be a very low chance though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rydog2007 (talkcontribs) at 23:08, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Arkhalis is part of Arkhalis's set, one of the Developer item sets can be included in any expert-mode Treasure Bag. Equazcion (talk) 23:14, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

A problematic entry in the trivia section

The trivia section currently says that the Empress of Light is a reference to Radiance from Hollow Knight. This is a violation of this wiki's trivia rules, as this reference has never been confirmed by a developer and is far from "undeniable". The Empress looks quite different from the Radiance, being differently coloured, having arms, different-looking wings and a human-like face instead of just two glowing orbs of light. Because of this, somebody should remove the problematic trivia entry. (I can't do it, because the page is currently protected.) 193.210.231.154 13:00, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

True is yes Empress of Light has no resemblance with radiance
Only similar connection being Sun Dance attack where she summons 8 beams of light limited range of course and radiance Beam burst.
The coicidence comes from fact if we consider Expert Sun dance she shoots 8 beams in 45° degree angle 3 times every next time rotated clockwise randomly and the hitbox of beam to deal damage is when beam is widest not when growing or fading and empress moving towards player exceptionaly.
Beam burst attack does exact same thing ex. 3 times shooting 45°, Degree Angle , Rotated clockwise everytime.
Thats only connection to radiance the Trivia entry that was there was obviously wrong as whole
So when it comes to Sun Dance it gets Credit to it and many people would agree.
So Remember Empress Sun dance = Radiance Beam burst nothing more. Redybird (talk) 00:30, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
If that's the case can't we just put in the trivia that only her sun dance attack is a possible reference to Radiance/Absolute Radiance? Daybroken (talk) 15:37, 26 June 2021 (UTC)
They also both have attacks that shoot a wall of swords at the player (although EoL's attack shoots the swords directly at the player instead of all moving parallel), both have an attack that shoots a ring of projectiles which curve midair (EoL's Everlasting Rainbow and Radiance's Sword Burst), and both arguably have more "structured" attacks with clear safe areas than most other bosses in their respective game. Strong damage similar to skeletron prime during day and dungeon guardian.

Prismatic Bolt did 13000 damage to me with nebula armor on during day. WHAT IS HAPPENING (is this a dungeon guardian)? 188.120.87.87 15:00, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

well, if you were to read the page on the wiki, you would know that she gets enraged. Inwader4 (talk) 09:08, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Multiplayer differences

When playing with a friend in multiplayer, the ethereal lance attack sent out evenly spaced lances all going at the same angle, with enough lances to cover the screen, then repeating in different directions. In singleplayer, the lances all come out at different angles targeted at the player, and can be outrun. I have not seen any coverage of this outside of my own experience Lazercats3 (talk) 02:21, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

1.4 console timeing?

I want to play a 1.4 console world but it hasent come, yet any one now when?73.180.30.93 03:46, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Same man I want to do a 100% boss run and I can't because the empress of light isn't on console.. Locustwretch (talk) 22:14, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Phase 2 sprite change not shown or mentioned on wiki

During the empress's second phase, her sprite noticeably changes. Despite the effort put in to ripping her full non-shader animation for P1, there is no second-phase sprite or infobox on the wiki, unlike all other phased bosses. Is there a reason for this, or am I missing something? Obsidianmolerat (talk) 01:09, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

The P1 animation was made by a contributor who only visited this wiki a brief period in May and seemingly didn't get to make a P2 animation. As such, making the latter falls to someone else, and no one has gotten to it yet. Maybe I'll have a go at it myself one of these days unless someone beats me to it. Thanks for pointing it out :-) NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 17:47, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
well? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.174.180 at 23:47, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Achievements

I noticed that the empress is the only boss in the game that doesn't have an achievement. Maybe add a note about that in trivia? I'm unregistered, so I can't edit the page. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.232.132.219 at 01:45, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

There's also the Queen Slime and Betsy. I'm guessing they'll all get one in 1.4.1. --Eraloiz (talk) 01:58, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Tip for fighting outside of Hallow biome

The Prismatic Lacewings will disappear almost instantly if placed outside the Hallow, but placing the Lacewing on top of the lingering projectiles from weapons such as the Death Sickle, Demon Scythe or another players' Lance can summon the Empress instantly without having to worry about the quick despawn timer. Co5micWaffle6 (talk) 15:09, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Yes its true but failure results the tedious another attempt to get IT. Redybird (talk) 02:09, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Second Form Sprites

Empress of Light (second form) (enraged).gif

Are there no sprites for the Empress of Light's second form on this wiki? I want to find out what it looks like, yet its too chaotic in game for me to see properly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XavierGaming54 (talkcontribs) at 03:17, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

As discussed above, the contributor who uploaded the sprite of the first phase has not uploaded one of the second phase. Unlike most other sprites, which can simply be uploaded from the game files as-is, the Empress's sprites consist of intricate alterations done via code. Therefore, the pool of contributors who are willing to invest the time and are even capable of assembling the sprite is smaller than with normal sprites. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 16:23, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
what do you mean by "intricate alterations"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.58.174.180 at 23:48, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
I decided to have a go at creating them myself, and I think they came out pretty good. The only thing that's missing is the "breathing" effect on the tentacles (they are tentacles, right?), since it just wasn't possible to get everything to loop properly with it. There's 2 variants, one for nighttime and one for daytime (enraged). --Eraloiz (talk) 12:24, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Eol speed

Isn’t enraged phase 3 duke fishron faster? He’s capable of catching up, the empress requires one simple delay while running on asphalt, sun dance. Dukie however has no such delays, capable of travelling 155mph — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimmytheman19475 (talkcontribs) at 02:16, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Which minion should I use against her?

So ive got 4 minion slots, but only 2 post-Plantera summons. Should I summon a max desert tiger and a deadly sphere or 4 deadly spheres? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Battlebeedaangelbee (talkcontribs) at 20:10, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Attack value while enraged?

Is there an attack value while enraged defined in the code, or does it just increase the damage by like 100-fold? --UTFan33 (AccurJ) 13:01, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

Trivia question

I was thinking about putting in the trivia that there was a theory stating that the EoL is the Moon Lord's daughter, but it seems unlikely. What are your thoughts?Daybroken (talk) 15:39, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

If there is confirmation from Re-Logic that this is true, feel free to add it (and include the source, of course). If not, then it shouldn't be mentioned. See the trivia rules. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:08, 26 June 2021 (UTC)

Rainbow Cursor Drop?

So apparently, Rainbow cursor is 1/20, but I think it may be expert exclusive. Tried many times in Normal(Not sure how many since tally counter doesn't work) but finally decided to open up expert, and got it out of a treasure bag after 6 or so tries. 72.80.212.189 23:44, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Not true, just got it in classic. --AmsterWikis (talk) 02:15, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

"One can see the inspiration clearly in her attack patterns and her music."

Is this true, though? At least to me, it seems like players could maybe notice the Empress was Touhou inspired by themselves, especially with the daytime fight's gimmick, but the inspiration is still far from "clear" to a passive onlooker. Her design doesn't seem Touhou-inspired at all, her attacks merely display a simple resemblance, and, at least to me, her music doesn't sound like anything to be found in any Touhou games, and i've played a lot of those.

Why does the infobox separate the words in the sound effects when using gametext?

Just something minor I kept noticing, but is there a way to edit the enemy infobox in a way so that the game text projectile names aren't separated in the sound section? Could it be edited so that each sound file name could just be generated in a single line like how it is with the Moon Lord's infobox, or does it just have to do internally with the way infoboxes are sized? What is causing the gametext projectile names to get weirdly clipped like the way they are now?
