Talk:Goblin Tinkerer

I was just playing, and I found the goblin tinkerer, but he was killed a little bit after I found him. He has yet to respawn, and it's been two in-game days. I've gone to other parts of the map after he was killed so that he could respawn in my house, but he still hasn't respawned. What should I do? (edit: he also doesn't show up on the home menu, so idk if that helps or not)

Why does it say Goblin Tinkerer's preferred biomes are both underground and snow? I haven't seen anything that states he likes the snow biome.

How much time do you get after you kill a goblin army to get him because I killed a goblin army a few hours ago and i found him about 5 mins ago and it didnt free him

You get forever, but if autopause is on you can't free him. It's probably a bug. --Deltalon 13:49, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
This was fixed in the 1.1.1 update. --114.76.17.147 12:36, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I've been playing the new patch and don't have an account, I just wanna say I just found the bound goblin WITHOUT being in hard mode. Is that right? If not, should there be something in the article text on that?

 • That's okay, tell us if you find a Wizard without hardmode.

"underground part of world"? He always spawns in the Cavern Layer, in my experience.--46.146.8.8 21:02, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Yeah. Cavern Layer or Underground Layer would be a lot better-sounding, if we can verify which is accurate. It may be he can spawn in either layer. Can anyone else verify that he can spawn in the Underground? I've always found him in the Cavern Layer myself. Threid 21:36, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Found him at the "top" of the Cavern layer, very near the boundary where the Underground layer ended. I was busy digging my huge world-spanning anti-Hallow/Corruption gaps and was tunneling under some natural Corruption when I found the bound Goblin Tinkerer. Pre-hardmode and post Goblin army defeat, medium sized world, around 300+ feet underground. - Spinfx 03:40, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

To whoever changed the "YES, gold is stronger than iron. What are they teaching these humans nowadays?" quote to include "(in reference to real life where gold is slightly less sturdy than the tinfoil around a baked potato)", I applaud your knowledge of Zero Punctuation.

 • I notice the lack of a closing quotation mark there.

Weird errors

I'm seeing some weird errors on this page. I checked out the edit page for this and another NPC and everything seems fine so I don't know where the problem lies. Here are some of the errors I'm getting:

{{#if: Town| {{#if: | {{#if: Passive| {{#if: 10| {{#if: 250| {{#if: 15| {{#if:|{name}|Template:BASEPAGENAME}} Statistics Type Wilderness }}{{#if: | {type3} }}}} Environment {environment}{{#if: | – {environment2} }}}} AI Type Passive }} Damage 10 }} Max Life 250 }} Defense 15 }}

check it now. I performed a purge and it works for me now. --JonTheMon 19:59, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
This is weird. I got the same on Clockwork Assault Rifle earlier, which was a different template that somehow malfunctioned (also fixed by purging). Leaving no other logical explanation, I blame Curse for this. --Lunboks 20:03, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I was also getting it on other pages. Seemed to be a low-level template malfunction. It's working now. --Theothersteve7 20:45, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Quote notes

The camera in Terraria faces north, not south, as evidenced by the fact that the Compass shows that going toward the right side of the screen is 'east'. At least, it does in version 1.1. I'm not sure about previous versions. But this would mean that the sun rises in the west. --114.76.17.147 12:36, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Finding Him

Is he on the map before you free him? --98.155.5.111 00:08, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

After you've defeated the Goblin Army, go look for him in the Cavern Layer. According to the NPC Spawning page, the NPC can spawn at any time (after the Goblin Army is defeated) within a 168 x 94 tile rectangular area around you.

He's not shown on the map, though? --98.155.5.111 15:28, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

"Thought you'd be taller" quote

I'm pretty sure the quote by the goblin tinkerer "thought you'd be taller" is a reference to Halo 4, where Spartan Palmer says the same line to Master Chief, or Halo: Combat Evolved where a marine says this quote to Chief. Can anyone else verify this? Chocolateporter (talk) 16:16, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

It's a Star Wars reference, Halo is also referencing Star Wars. --172.58.155.197 16:23, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
