King Slime Trophy

I saw that the king slime trophy can only be dropped on the desktop version of terraria which is weird cause the king slime Is on all the versions, and I tried fighting him dozens of times to gain it but he never dropped it. (InfiniteMarioMaster)

King Slime will not leave after player died in the Slime Rain event

On 1.3.0.8 PC version Single player game, King Slime will stay even after he killed the player

Picture of King Slime with ninja inside it

King Slime as a Person(Ninja) inside him,in the picture he doesn't have, can somebody upload a picture of the Slime WITH the Ninja on him? --MadPedro 19:21, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Evidence toward the ninja inside King Slime

I'm compiling a list of evidence to show the ninja inside the King Slime, this is a work in progress but it's in Discussion so it should be fine here.

Found a youtube video with the ninja inside, I'm going to search for the ninja sprite to see if I can find it.

Video 1

I apologize about the video policy, and these are just links to the videos. I submitted these two for evidence of the "Trivia".

The second video has a link to a "cheat" on it, I would recommend it is removed. Let's see if we can find a better example of the ninja inside and then embed it. I'm not sure the explanation of "how the game does it" is necessary. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 04:00, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I removed the 2nd, didn't realize that. It wasn't as clear anyways. Also I just wanted to push down "External Links" without having nothing but white space. So the text is there to fill in the white space I guess~ I just didn't like how it looked with all the open space around it so filled it in with how the game does it. Looked more... complete I guess? -- ❤Kalilla❤ 04:11, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I finally figured out how to get it to pop (took long enough... sorry). I can embed the video on the front page under trivia if you would like Wynthyst. Here it is:
Also, if I do post it on the main page should it be this?
Or maybe a picture rather than a video? I think there are enough pictures on the front page and I don't think it would provide a clearer version than the one I created. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 02:58, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
  • How much evidence is really necessary? Can readers not just take the word of the many people who have fought the king slime that there is indeed a ninja inside it? As soon as you see one you can clearly see the poor rookie ninja who messed with it and got semi-digested. 78.105.8.153 23:16, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Whoa

For Some Reason King slime Was GIGANTIC! this was a hard challenge i bet that was a glitch — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nogo1 (talk • contribs) at 21:58, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Answer: that was on multiplayer or singleplayer?
if it was on multiplayer, probably was an custom boss made with alot of health, because of king slime shrink after damage mecanic, the size was adapted by its health, thats why it enormous size.
if it was singleplayer, well, that was probably a glitch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.204.207.173 at 20:48, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

What seed you did play on and what dificulty were you on? King slime is bigger the higer the dificulty is.

Which picture?

Should we use the picture with or without the ninja inside of him? It seems to make more sense to include the ninja, since that's what players will see in the game. --Theothersteve7 18:41, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

As the user who uploaded the image I would have to say no, as it isn't exactly official since I created the image myself. Now, if the community doesn't mind that it isn't an official sprite then sure, I have no problem with that then. It's just I created that image using layers and transparency to give it a look more clear to what the trivia is trying to tell. In game it doesn't seem to be this clear at all, but I wanted the Ninja to stand out just a little more than the game suggests is all :) Maybe an admin/mod can give us their opinion on the matter whether or not the monster sprite should remain as is or not. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 23:24, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Who do you think you're defeating?

I just wanted to throw this out there, who do you think your actually fighting. With the evidence of the ninja inside the slime it cant help but to bring up the question who really is the target here? True, the name is King Slime, but that doesn't exactly mean the slime is under its own power. Maybe a Ninja possessed the slime and is attacking you/your group and when you defeat it you defeat the ninja leaving behind one of his armor pieces as he escapes death! lol, as silly as it sounds just wanted to throw that out there. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 23:30, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

It strikes me as more likely that the seemingly dead or paralysed ninja inside the king slime is in the process of being slowly digested... 78.105.8.153 23:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Have you even SEEN the achievement u get for defeating him? it's called 'Slippery Shinobi'

Shinobi means NINJA BOOM 122.60.45.6 02:44, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

AI Behavior

He doesn't totally run off of Slime AI - During the day, he acts like a slime at night... he will track you instead of hopping one way only.

Day slime: Jumps one way, and continues off the screen until despawned.

Night slime: Jumps to your horizontal location then bounces back and forth trying to reach you.

King slime: Behaves like Night slime during the day.

I'm trying to farm the outfit now, and after two game days of nothing, I noticed the 3 slimes remaining on the day/night change were just jumping back and forth. I was watching a movie and by the time the King slime spawned the first time, I didn't catch him until he jumped over my tiny filled in hole in the ground. He continued to track me, and I had to break out and get hit to even engage him. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Banarak (talk).

i never thought of it that way.he looks as if he is.but would the ninja want do be inside a 500 ton slimey beast of ultament distruction...i konw i would.

Drops

Could somebody post the exact code/rates? Why was it 99.99% to begin with? Is there another super secret drop that accounts for the 0.01%? happypal (talk • contribs) 20:09, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure where someone got 99.99% because it's not in the source. 99.99 means you will pretty much always get a drop, but I think there's more of a chance of not getting anything. Not too sure though ~Null(T-C) 20:15, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
User:99.75.112.188 created the 99.99% bs on 04:30, 11 June 2011 as far as I can tell and people have just kept with it. Just because 33.33% + 33.33% + 33.33% doesn't mean its 99.99%... If you would of given any of those numbers a .34 then it would be unbalanced. They all are an equal third and it is most likely impossible to not get a drop from King Slime a 0.01%? really...? lol. It really just needs to be 100% and leave it at that. 99.99% is really stupid unless it is possible to not get a drop. I'd like to see proof before you mention there is a 0.01% chance of not getting a drop. -- ❤Kalilla❤ 22:50, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Look, its probably running on "rand() % 3" for drop chances, in the code, rather than 33%. This would account for and remove the remaining nonexistant .01% -Serge
Yea, we understand that. Just its silly to list it at 99.99% is all, but thanks for the insight of programming :) -- ❤Kalilla❤ 05:46, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, if king slime had a item that dropped 1:10000, it could also explain it. I know some of our users have access to the code, so I'm asking for one to confirm it, rather than speculate. happypal (talk • contribs) 06:26, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
According to the game code, you always get one part of the armor as loot. It just randomly chooses one of the 3 parts.--Trinidad 03:17, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
If one piece of gear has one chance out of three to be dropped by King Slime, just consider that the decimal expansion of 33.33 is periodic (33.33333333 and so on). Multiplied by three, it equals exactly to 100. 69.159.138.83 01:36, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Hi there, year 2019 here. Just slained 4 king slimes from 1 crown, 1 from rain and another two from crown. Got 4 ninja hoods and 4 ninja shirts. So it's only this two with 100% from bag or I just effed the wohle probability theory? 54.39.176.97 20:05, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

I assume you did this in Expert mode, given you said "from bag". A King Slime Treasure Bag has a 66% chance to include a Ninja Hood, a 66% chance to include a Ninja Shirt, and a 66% chance to include Ninja Pants. This means that it is absolutely possible not to receive a Ninja Hood, even after four kills.

King slime + bunnies spawning at edge of the map in MP

"The King Slime spawns only in areas a third of the map away from the spawn point. An easy way to determine if you are far enough from the spawn point is to check for the presence of bunnies, who only spawn within a third of the map from the spawn point. If you can see bunnies, you aren't far enough from the spawn. By "within a third of the map", that means only each outer sixth of the map is viable for the King Slime to spawn."

This is not true in multiplayer mode. Both bunnies and a King Slime spawned near the edge of the map, where we filled in the ocean and made a house. Bunnies don't seem to spawn near the edge of my SP world though. --Colonel Thirty Two 00:38, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Bunnies are spawning at my dungeon. I don't think the part about the prescence of bunnies is correct. 109.189.228.216

Not sure about bunnies, but in single-player mode I had a king slime spawn while I was standing on the beach mining sand; it's clearly incorrect. 78.105.8.153 23:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Never mind I misread it as *within* a third of the map from a spawn point; carry on. 78.105.8.153 23:21, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Bunnies will not only spawn in the 'middle' of the map, but also near any town npcs. This includes the old man standing at the dungeon.--GauHelldragon 08:32, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Mini-boss?

Why exactly is he in a category of his own and not in the same category as bosses? What prerequisite does he not fit that other bosses do? --Moxxy 20:21, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Well, killing him won't attract the dryad. --GauHelldragon 04:10, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

And there is no item that can be crafted at the demon altar to summon him.

...and he doesn't appear as a result of character advancement prerequisites, and doesn't provide access to rare items required for further character advancement. He's more of a sideshow attraction, rather than being critical to the game flow. He can appear no matter where you are in the game, and if you beat him you're still right back where you were. Equazcion (talk) 21:15, 18 Aug 2011 (UTC)

but the only bosses you need to defeat to get the best ranger set is: skeletron, wall of flesh, the destroyer, the twins, skeletron prime, plantera, duke fishron and the frost moon event.

King slime is not that hard if you think about it. So he could be called A mini boss.

Size

I added a rough size estimate that reads "15 times larger than the Mother Slime", but I honestly pulled this right out of my ass based on a mental comparison. If anyone has more accurate size information (I think a comparison with other slimes would still be best), feel free to change it. Equazcion (talk) 21:36, 18 Aug 2011 (UTC)

Spawning

Does the King Slime spawns on it's own now?

Why was the spawning information gathered from the source code removed? SirVarrock 21:10, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

random biome spawning

i insist. it is not precised anywhere. do we have evidence of the conditions for biome spawning of king slime? and more precisely: does he spawn anywhere else than in pure forest? i made a jungle farm to benefit from higher spawn rates. nothing. never seem to happen in corruption. neither in ocean. so the only requirement being to be a third seems preposterous. and NO, it is not the same as seeing the goblin scouts, i ve seen thousands.. does he spawn only in forest, do i need to recreate a forest ? 03:36, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

new npc idea

after you beat king slime there should be a 10% chance for a ninja npc to spawn he sells shurikens for 10c each, ninja armor (helmet 1g25s, chestplate 1g50s, pants 1g) after the eater/brain has been defeated he sells the climbing claws for 1g, after skeletron, he sells the shoe spikes for 1g, once hardmode begins he sells the tabi for 1g50s, and after plantera he sells the black belt for 2g. The Devs Don't Look at this stuff... Ejdeibert (talk) 14:58, 14 October 2016 (UTC)

Solidifier drop rate?

The page currently lists the drop rate of the Solidifier as 33.36%. Having fought King Slime numerous times in the current version, I can't recall him ever not dropping it. If needed, I have about 80 slime crowns to test with, but I don't have a way of killing him particularly quickly right now.

Dragon Quest?

I am sure at some point it was noted, but removed due to mods removing "obsolete trivia", that this guy was most probably influenced by King Slime, recurring enemy from Dragon Quest. I know the devs don't mention these things, but this looks very probable to me. And I think the cleanup of references started with people claiming every little thing to be referencing something (like Stardust Armor referencing various anime and games), whereas some concepts are just popular and not tied to certain series (like zombies). So I believe if there is similarity between King Slime in Terraria and Dragon Quest, and the "blue giant slime king wearing a crown named king slime" has not been spotted elsewhere, we can safely say it is probably a reference. Ah yes, I remember king slime not wearing a crown. He is now, though. 89.77.180.47 10:24, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

That's pretty cool, I didn't realize Dungeon Quest had King slime. However, just because they share the name, it doesn't necessarily mean there is a connection. Still, it is quite a coincidence. Which came first? I went to their wiki, but couldn't find an image from DQIV, when he was introduced (they only had a recent image). Without developer confirmation, or a general consensus, we wouldn't add it to the trivia. If you really want to add it, see if you can get Cenx or another dev to confirm that is where their inspiration came from. – Ferretwings (talk) 16:38, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
Dragon Quest's King Slime came way first; Dragon Quest IV came out for the famicon/NES so that should give you an idea of how long ago that was. The monsters in the Dragon Quest series have remained pretty faithful to their original designs and King Slime is no exception, but if you want to see the DQIV art search YouTube for a video called 'Dragon Warrior IV - Vs. King Slime' to see someone fighting one (I tried to directly link it but apparently it was flagged as spam). There is pretty much 0 chance that the devs weren't aware of King Slime when they created Slime King given that Dragon Quest is a huge global franchise. If you don't want to say that Slime King was "inspired" by Dragon Quest, you could say something like he bears a striking resemblance to Dragon Quest's iconic King Slime. 125.4.225.24 14:54, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Drop Rates

Some of the drop rates are off. From testing, the Solidifier is 100% and the Slime Gun is closer to 66%. I killed 275 King Slimes and I got:
275 Solidifiers (100%)
30 Trophies (10.91%)
37 Masks (13.45%)
2675 Healing Potions
189 Slime Guns (68.73%)
81 Slimy Saddles (29.45%)
86 Slime Hooks (31.27%)
87 Ninja Hoods (31.64%)
91 Ninja Shirts, (33.09%)
97 Ninja Pants (35.27%)
I'm not certain on the Slime Gun rate and the Solidifier might not be quite 100%, but it's definitely higher than 33%. Someone should check the code for the exact numbers. Ultiomos (talk) 01:36, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm looking at the source code now. – Ferretwings (talk) 02:42, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

King slime rope trick

As of 1.4.0.1, king slime can no longer be cheesed with a column of rope.

He will either teleport on top of you or jump very high so theres no escape by using rope. Redybird (talk) 02:19, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
