Hardmode?

Is the Lepus a hardmode boss, or can it be summoned before hardmode? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.125.242.220 at 13:41, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Lepus is a pre-hardmode boss- all Hardmode-only bosses are clarified to be such in the opening paragraph. Gearzein (talk) 17:04, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Limit of 5

This wiki page says that only 5 Lepus clones can be spawned - but I just fought about 30 of them! I think it's actually that there can only 5 at one time. But as soon as one of them dies, another can (and probably will) be hatched almost immediately. So you can keep on fighting Lepus literally forever, if you are not in a good position to destroy the eggs as soon as the hatch (I was in the doorway of my house, with the Lepus army outside, and every time they laid eggs, the eggs rolled away from the house, so the only way I could break the eggs was by shooting through five Lepuses at once. And by the time I realized it would basically keep respawning forever, I had used up literally every missile weapon I had). Katvrouw (talk) 19:50, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

How many large eggs did the original Lepus lay? Did any of the weaker Lepus lay any eggs? Is this a timed event, or does it only end once the original Lepus has been defeated? -Ferretwings (talk) 04:40, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
I pretty quickly lost track of which Lepus was which... Once there were two or three in play, I couldn't have told you which was the original. I got the "Lepus has been defeated" message many times over - basically every time I killed any of them. All of them seemed to be able to lay the large eggs, though, as far as I could tell. At least, the eggs kept coming fast enough that I was fairly certain they were all laying them... But when you've got five Lepuses and a dozen or more Diseaster Bunnies all surging in front of you and half of them are on fire (because fiery weapons seemed to work best), it's a little hard to be clear on the details. But the large eggs definitely kept coming, all the way through to the end.
I think it must be a timed event, to some extent at least, because I never did kill the last of them. I ran upstairs to buy a stack of grenades from the Demolitionist, because I'd used up all my arrows (jester, fiery, everything), bought a bunch more, used them up too, and had been flailing away with the fiery greatsword from the doorway for so long my hands were getting tired... And when I came back down to start tossing them out the door, they had all despawned! Even though I'd only been gone a minute or so - I guess there was some upper time limit of how long they could stay in the world beyond the original hatching. I'm not sure exactly how much time had elapsed - I was too busy roasting rabbits to be watching the time.

3DS Version?

Is Lepus in the 3DS Version? --73.198.221.72 03:22, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Yes it is. In fact, it is EXCLUSIVE TO the 3DS version. It used to be on mobile📱 and console🎮 but was then removed from these versions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.202.187.36 at 18:13, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
by console do you include WIIU because I remember it being on it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.141.126 at 19:12, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

potential vandalism

someone may have vandilised this page in the drops section, the ninja armor set and suls of might have been listed i dont know if these items can be dropped but it seems unlickely — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.146.74.13 at 13:20, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

This is not vandalism; the items listed can be dropped by Lepus. The chances and items are correct. Ninja armor is only vanity on Nintendo 3DSNintendo 3DS version version. I'm not sure why Lepus is able to drop these items, but it is; the drops are correct and this was not caused by a vandal. Trivia: Night of the Lepus

It is not mentioned in the Trivia section, and I can't prove it, but I suspect that the name is at least in part inspired by the 1972 SF-horror film, Night of the Lepus, about an attack by giant carnivorous rabbits. Never having seen the Lepus in action in-game, I can't say for sure, but I'm betting it is a giant rabbit. (If it's just a regular-sized rabbit, then maybe not.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Evac156 (talk • contribs) at 19:15, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Incorrect infobox hover

Heya, noticed for a while, and I don't know how to edit infoboxes so someone else will need to help me, but hovering over Lepus' sprite lists it as the "Desktop, Console, and Mobile sprite" and the older art is "Old-gen Console and 3DS sprite." Can someone change this to fit the other exclusives with "sprite" and "old sprite"? Kirby Baker (talk) 16:08, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for reporting. NPC infoboxes do this by default if there is a file with the "(old)" suffix present. This is because in the past most "(old)" files were old-gen/3DS sprites and the regular ones were from Desktop/Console/Mobile, but that's no longer the case – now there are Desktop/Console/Mobile-exclusive entities that have "(old)" files and there are old-gen/3DS-exclusive entities that have "(old)" files. So a change of the template is in order, but for now I've simply removed the "(old)" file from the infobox here. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 20:42, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
