Weird Meteorite Landing

Recently I was playing Terraria and a Meteorite landed randomly and I just started the game 1 hour before and I had not smashed any Orbs at all could some one look into this or was this just a small Glitch — Preceding unsigned comment added by HyperOddjob (talk • contribs) at 06:20, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

To me smashing a Shadow Orb spawning a Meteorite is just a rumor. Smashing a Shadow Orb might spawn a Meteorite but they are considered a random event, because when I first started playing Terraria I didn't even know how to smash Shadow Orbs, and Meteorites would spawn randomly. --Josiah 07:08, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
There is a bug where Shadow Orbs are smashed at world creation, making events (such as meteorite spawns) appear prematurelly, and to the observer, like a completly random event, which it isn't. happypal (talk • contribs) 07:29, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
I've had 3 meteors fall without a Shadow Orb being smashed -- in particular, just yesterday, (1.1.2) during a Blood Moon while I was sitting in my house, located a couple hundred feet above the surface and thus nowhere near a Shadow Orb. Following the event I used TEdit which confirmed no additional Orbs had been smashed since I last intentionally smashed one. --Sinister Stairs 14:47, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

one shadow orb smased can...

one time i smashed one shadow or and meteorite landings became a random event, they were rare rare and even rare and happened every 1/19 of a night chance, sometimes i got even luckier streaks than that happenning almost every night non-stop, maybe becuase i was smashing shadow orbs alot back then, and ending up avoiding the dreaded EoW until i had decent armor (via save&exit becuase i didnt have the magic mirror from the cavern/ cave biome yet) perhaps all those rbs i smashed were building up to happen every night for a meteor streak but it was so odd, i surveyed almost all of the map using a hardcore ghost and saw almost no meteorite landings... a little strange (DLAJT24 18:56, 14 August 2011 (UTC))

new method for meteorite farming

meteor heads have a small chance to drop the ore, right? heres a method i used that i found most effective. get a pheonix blaster (+ silver bullets) and / or a feiry greatsword, and then build a very thin, very simply built skybridge, after that use any 50 meteorite you have found and spread it thinly and simply across the sybridge, this will make meteorites only spawn left and right of the map and with the two weapons i mentioned, makes them less of a threat, as long as you keep kiling meteor heads and have an obsidian skull to actually be considered on the boime you can have a slow but rewarding way to get the ore, hope this helps out any of you. Hardmode

Has anyone tested whether creating an artificial meteorite biome in hardmode will generate monster spawns for it and override the spawning of the hardmode monsters? - Spinfx 04:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

if you checked NPC spawning which is on front page, it says yes to your answer. 98.134.236.124 04:41, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Can't find meteorites

I haven't been playing for long, but recently, I started to progress a bit, and have had three meteorites fall so far, and I can't find any of them. The first one happened when I was underground in the corruption about 5 minutes walk from my home, the second one happened a bit further into the corruption, and the third one whilst at my home. After the first one, one has happened each night, and I have walked both ways for about 15 minutes and haven't seen any sign of meteorites. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.199.141.27 at 03:05, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

There is a chance that meteorites hit floating islands or fall in the ocean, making them hard to find. If you want you can use tedit or another map viewer to find the meteorites. --Icke 10:59, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

No more artificial Meteorite Biome?

"If a player places at least 50 pieces of Meteorite, they can create an artificial Meteorite biome, where all enemy spawns are replaced by Meteor Heads."

This is apparently no longer true and should be removed, I think. I placed over 800 meteor blocks and the regular spawns continued to happen. When I asked about this on Reddit, I was told it went away with the 1.3 update on PC. Not sure about old consoles/3DS. Inkjetlabel43598 (talk) 20:09, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

Desktop 1.3.5.3(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) here: This still appears to be true; both judging by the source code and testing in-game. Could you give a little more detail about your situation? What biome were you in, was it in Hardmode, etc.? --Rye Greenwood (talk) 22:57, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

It is no longer worth getting meteorite

You can no longer break it with bombs. this is the worst change in 1.4

Contents box title in Cyrillic text - can't edit? (fixed)

I've recently defeated Eater of Worlds for the first time and had my first meteor drop shortly afterwards. I came to the Meteorite page for tips on mining meteor ore, and I noticed that the title string in the contents box is written in Cyrillic (Russian?) text. I'm an English speaker (UK), and the rest of the Wiki appears in (American) English as expected. I've had a look at the page source to see if I could make a change to correct this slight problem, but I can't see any reference to the contents summary box. Is this box generated automatically? If so, how can it be corrected? Thanks for any help given. I'm still learning how to edit Wikis. Saiph (talk) 18:04, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

Yes, it's automatic and can't be edited directly. Per the manual on mediawiki.org: "By default, a table of contents (sometimes abbreviated to TOC) is automatically generated on a page when more than three section headings are used." What you noticed happens from time to time, unfortunately; it appears to be a bug in the software: Whenever the page is purged, the language setting of the user who purges it is used for the "Contents" heading in all languages. This also means that purging it with the language set to English fixes it.
In short: Simply purge the page ("More" dropdown → "Purge cache"). That should reset it!

Thanks again for the information Rye, I'll remember that tip. Saiph (talk) 11:07, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
