Use time

Is there some mechanic that makes this sword faster than its use time? If I tap attack, it only hits once, but holding down seems to attack much more than its use time would indicate, even with my melee speed buffs.

It's listed with the same use time as Muramasa, but it's hitting way more often. What's going on?Mathbrush1 (talk) 19:58, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

Edit: I experimented with wearing no armor vs Shadow armor, and the DPS didn't change at all. It's possible that Starlight is like Arkhalis, which also has a high use time (25) but does a ton of attacks in that time, and which also isn't affected by speed modifiers. Yet, Starlight can be forged to Legendary, so I'm not sure.Mathbrush1 (talk) 01:54, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

you can craft the star light now

Appropriate to add a reference to the starfury?

They have similar names and i got kinda confused myself when someone referred to it. Would it be appropriate to add a thing that says “not to be confused with StarFury”?

Shortsword according to who?

I do not believe this thing is a shortsword. It has longer range than all other shortswords combined, completely contradicting what it says on the page. If the developers classify it as a shortsword, or I'm outvoted here, then I guess I'm just screwed, but its behavior doesn't resemble any other shortsword, other than the Ruler by a longshot. Plus, if it's a shortsword, where is its broadsword equivalent? I'm not arguing this is a broadsword, but it should at least be classified under "other" because even if it is a shortsword, it's the only Hardmode one, and if there's a category with only one page in it, then that's just a waste. It also does not have a stabbing motion, again stated on the page, it's got a large barrage of swings that shoot out light beams. The sword itself isn't what's doing the damage.

It has similar use motion to shortswords, so you can consider it a shortsword that can shoot projectiles. (e.g. Calamity mod's shortswords) Also not all shortswords have a broadsword equivalent. (Ruler, Gladius) BadPiggy1024 (talk) 00:36, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
While the Gladius can still be considered a shortsword, even if it attacks three times rather than once, the Starlight's only characteristic that is similar to shortswords is the sword animation. Apart from that, it's different from all shortswords, as outlined above by AngryMiner5704. The Starlight would be the first and only case of a shortsword shooting projectiles (disregarding any mod items). In fact, we're currently categorizing it as a projectile-only weapon on Projectile melee weapons, which makes sense if the sword itself doesn't do damage. I'm not too passionate about this issue, but so far, AngryMiner5704's arguments are more convincing, in my opinion. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 11:49, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
Since there have been no new counter-arguments in over a month now, I've gone ahead and changed the classification. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 18:38, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
