The only portable storage device falls into lava

Wonder what happens if you have only one portable storage device, and it falls into lava. Device destroyed? Contents intact? That's what I'm guessing, would be nice to get some confirmation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.182.95.123 at 20:15, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

The contents should be intact, since you can usually access those contents from another of the same type of storage (i.e. two safes will show the same one 'storage space'.) 50.130.130.102 20:50, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Mannequin

Should the Mannequin be included here? (It stores armor/vanity items, if nothing else.) --Sinister Stairs 02:00, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Adding quick question

Sorry for the stupid question, but this is the only place where I can even find any mention of an in-game quick stack or renaming. What's the hotkey/combination for quick stacking? (And renaming as well I suppose) I can't find it in the controls. Thanks --13.14.15.16 23:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

There are no hotkeys for those functions, at least not yet. It's something several people have suggested though. Hopefully we'll see it in a future update. Equazcion (talk) 23:58, 4 Sep 2014 (UTC)

Coins disappearing in quick stack

"1.2.3.1: Fixed bug where coins would disappear during Quick Stack. Fixed an exploit where you could duplicate coins with Quick Stack." I'm still having this in 1.2.4.1. I put my coins in the piggy bank in case I die, keep exploring until I have too many items, then carry copper, silver, gold coins myself. If there are plat coins in the piggy bank but not the others, and the other 39 slots are full, pressing quick stack will delete all gold, silver and copper coins you have on you.

Has anyone else got this and/or how did the coin copy exploit work? Could be that's still usable too :P

Quick stack to nearby chests button missing

Sometimes, when my inventory is near full, this button disappears. Annoying. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BioVass-gpuser (talk • contribs) at 11:02, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Quick Stack to nearby Chests

I figured out the radius of the "quick stack to nearby chests" button. Blue wire represents the furthest usable square, so if your chest has even a single tile at least as close as that, it'll work. http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/y328/khanzarate/Capture%202016-03-06%2017_46_05_zpsgamjqjx8.png?t=1457218301

The reach looks to be 10 blocks away from the player, both horizontally and vertically. Without the Mechanical Ruler overlay, I'm only guessing... Ferretwings (talk) 23:25, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Its 11 on top and at the sides, 12 on the bottom, and roughly spherical, but its only left-right symmetrical, as the bottom isn't what you'd expect going by the top (or vice-versa). all this is going off of the center 2 blocks that make up the character. 74.69.253.239 02:27, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Before I make a note of it on the main page... you weren't equipped with the Toolbelt or the Extendo Grip, were you? Ferretwings (talk) 04:02, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Sorting items is NOT by rarity.

I've seen this said several times, but it is false. If you were to have Bottled Honey (White rarity) and a Gold Bunny (Orange Rarity), the Bottled Honey would come before. Diabhork (talk) 05:14, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Even though I am a pre-hardmode player. I am in agreement with this. Some of the sorting tiers are easily catalogueable such as melee weapons, staves, combat wands, rifles, etc., but the last couple are a complete mystery to me. Even more frustrating, some don't sort alphabetically properly such as the trident, rally, and storm spear which mingle together rather than sorting by anything. In Diabhork's example, my conjectural "Healing consumables" category in which bottled honey resides in (with healing potions, restoration potion, eggnog and mushroom) comes before my conjectural category of "Critters, Dyes, Drops, and Novelty" which is the 3rd to last in the sorting set. There may be subcategories as evidenced by "Critters, Dyes, Drops, and Novelty" which all have the same sort color but clearly aren't such items that necessarily belong together. --PlNG (talk) 16:54, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
