Tmod loader 1.4

Since the default version of Tmod is now 1.4 the 1.3 info should be removed and the tmod icon should be with the other 1.4 versions (I don’t know how to edit the templates though)Personma (talk) 00:05, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

I've been holding off on doing this since I'm not sure what our plan is with the tModLoader version. I imagine a lot of people are still playing on 1.3-legacy, since most of the major content mods aren't updated yet (e.g. Calamity, Thorium). It could be renamed to "Legacy tModLoader version", and for 1.4+ info players can just look at Desktop (might be slightly confusing). --Eraloiz (talk) 00:26, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
I agree. Before tModLoader was added to the version differentiation, it had always been an implicit part of Desktop anyway, so I guess it's not that big of an adjustment for readers. Let's perhaps add "1.3" to the name of the legacy version to be crystal clear, and modify the icon somehow to convey that it doesn't refer to the most recent version (unfortunately I have no ideas about how to achieve this, though). Lastly, if we plan on terminating the legacy TML differentiation at some point (which I'd say is reasonable, just like with old-gen mobile), then we should maybe set some kind of an end condition, e.g. "the X most popular mods have all been updated to 1.4", or maybe an end date when we assume most mods will have been updated. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 19:54, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
Dinoxel created an icon for this legacy version, fr:Template:Icon/tmodloader test, while I've done a bit of research. I believe that we can disregard the players of mods with fewer than 100,000 downloads in their entire lifetime (the largest number of downloads is 16 million: Calamity), as well as players of mods which have not been updated in two years, and consider them as not significantly large enough of a group to warrant version differentiation for them here on the wiki. That leaves us with popular (>100,000 downloads) mods which have been updated recently (less than two years ago) but have not been ported to 1.4. I've made a list here and it reveals that the number of those mods currently amounts to 109, which is about one third of all popular mods. I'd say that we should terminate the legacy TML differentiation as soon as that percentage reaches 10% but no later than six months from now, i.e. December 25, 2022.
If there are no objections or ideas for improvements, then we're all set. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 23:04, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Sounds good (and reasonable) to me. --Eraloiz (talk) 13:22, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Tmod Developer Items

This page lists that there are "Various tModLoader developer items." Could we get images of these perhaps, considering all other tmod exclusive items have images here. Kirby Baker (talk) 14:29, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
