Talk:The Crimson

I'm seeing some red mossy stuff growing on regular stone in my world, but nowhere near the actual crimson locations. Does the crimson spread on stone in easy mode or is this something unrelated?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.61.47 at 03:53, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Probably unrelated, red moss our some such. If it were spreading crimson there would be Crimstone instead of regular stone— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dochoncho (talk • contribs) at 14:13, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Sunflowers halting the Crimson?

According to the wiki, it says crimson is halted by sunflowers, I planted sunflowers around my central biome, and all that did was end up with the crimson smashing the sunflowers into pickupable items and spreading anyway. Is this a bug, or is the information regarding it being halted just completely misleading?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.177.178.129 at 03:29, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

I may be wrong, and even if I'm correct the wiki doesn't reflect it (guess I better fix it), but I thought Sunflowers could only halt the Corruption/Crimson pre-Hardmode. Is your world in Hardmode? NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 22:29, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

a third biome that spreads

First since the crimson was added it also spread like thee corruption and the hallow also it is possible to stop the spread by basically putting two stick that reach hell/the underworld and the crimson has the strongest armor too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nogo1 (talk • contribs)

Hm?that made no sense Legendbug21 (talk) 12:04, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Crimson grass spreading

Is there an equivalent to the corruption vines that spread corruption grass in crimson worlds? I'm asking because I want to know if I have to fill my 5-tile-gaps with wood or not.

50% Chance is a lie

I have made about a HUNDRED worlds now, and only ONE of them is crimson. Right now i am creating world after world after world, to make a new one with the crimson in it, but i keep getting the corruption thing... What are the real chances to get a crimson world? Or is there a trick to this? Because it is clearly NOT 50%, if there is not a trick, rather 1%, or maybe 10% if i have bad luck, but nowhere near 50%.

Edit: Also, another indicator of what world you got, is the Tree on your map select screen, right next to your world name. If it has purple in it, it's corruption, if it has red in it, it's crimson, no need to get into the game and ask the guide or look for the biome. Someone might want to add this to the page, i can't edit anything, editor shows up white when not on the discussion page, just says "if you make any changes, your ip will be logged" or something like that... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.10.28.143 at 13:10, 22 Jul 2015 (UTC)

The chances are 50%. Source code:
WorldGen.crimson = (WorldGen.genRand.Next(2) == 0);
...
if (WorldGen.crimson) {	progress.Message = Lang.gen[72];
...
Lang.gen[72] = "Making the world bloody";
There's more of course, but this is the simplest indicator I could point out. rand.next(2) means pick a number at random from 0 or 1, with 0 becoming true and 1 becoming false. That's a 50% chance -- however 50% chance doesn't mean every person will get a Crimson world on 50% of their tries. Random chance does have to result in unbalanced results for some people. You might just happen to be on an extreme end of the bell curve.
For editing, you're currently defaulting to the "visual editor" which often glitches; try clicking the "edit source" or "code" button, I forget exactly what it's labeled as. That'll switch to the traditional code editor.Equazcion (talk) 13:41, 22 Jul 2015 (UTC)

Plus, there is a difference between experimental probability (your example above) and theoretical probability. 108.186.6.197 05:12, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Mention of Shadow Orbs in Crimson worlds

HELP! I know for a fact that I have Crimson because I went there, but the Guide says that shadow orbs are found around corrupt areas and nothing about the Crimson. If it matters, I'm playing the PS3 version. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

While the console version is supposed to be up to date with 1.2.3, it wasn't until this update that the Guide's dialogue was updated to reflect the addition of the Crimson in 1.2. 505 likely overlooked it in porting in the same way that Re-Logic overlooked it in implementing it. It shouldn't have any effect on gameplay. Gearzein (talk) 21:03, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Considering someone who is new to the game might generate a Crimson world, this article should not be written as if it expects the reader to know how the corruption spreads.

Arguably both biomes should be in the same article so all the relevant information is in one place. Psithief (talk) 12:47, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, he actually mentions two Corruption-type things: "the next step would be to explore the CORRUPT chasms" and "breaking a SHADOW ORB can cause a meteor to fall" on Crimson worlds. Anonymous132547698 (talk) 19:44, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Dark Mummies AND Shadow Mummies in my Crimson Desert?

I was just walking around my Crimson Desert, and then these guys came! At the moment, I thought the Shadow Mummy and Dark Mummy together was normal, but this article said nothing about it! Is this odd, or normal? Legendbug21 (talk) 12:09, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

It’s rare, but normal —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 20:19, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Unique-ish Drop from Crimeras

Hello. If Burgers are dropped from Crimeras and Eaters of Souls, would that mean they should be marked as a unique drop on both the Crimson and Corruption pages? Or does that mean they would be marked as a unique drop on neither page? 24.217.154.157 19:48, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

not so much a question but a general comment

I always thought the crimson „hand“ things looked like dinosaurs. Idk why.
