Request for deletion

This isn't really anything official in the game. There is no difference if the NPCs are all across the map or in a "town" aside from convenience. I'm requesting this page be deleted. --Moxxy 20:36, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Having all the NPCs close together will cause the spawn rate of slimes and such to drop to zero. If they are spread across the map this won't happen. --GauHelldragon 04:12, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
This has to do with the way spawns work. Not because there is some "town" mechanic. --Moxxy 04:17, 12 July 2011 (UTC)
How about we just move the info about spawning rates over to NPCs then. --GauHelldragon 04:22, 12 July 2011 (UTC)

Details about defending NPCs

Just an idea, this section could have notes detailing possible defense of NPCs during invasions and how to best protect them. Or maybe ways to best exploit grouping NPCs together? --Mionikoi 23:22, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Minimum number of NPCs

Is the minimum required number of NPCs two or three? There was a discussion on reddit about it, and after some tests it does seem to be three. But 172.58.172.62 reverted the edit which changed 2 to 3. What's the definitive answer? Is there an official source? 92.90.196.180 08:05, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

I recall seeing a Pylon sold with two NPCs, but someone needs to back me up on that. We do know for a fact that you only need two NPCs nearby to teleport. Breathlessblizzard (talk) 08:12, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Yes, pylons only need two NPCs, but the mini-biome that changes the music and lowers enemy spawns rates appears to require three. 92.90.196.180 08:30, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Updated, thank you. Breathlessblizzard (talk) 08:43, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Range of the Town mini-biome

How far can the mini-biome extend around NPCs? (The border where biome music is switched to Town music)BadPiggy1024 (talk) 07:27, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

All NPCs that are within a 240×135-tile rectangle that is centered on the player are taken into consideration when deciding whether to play the town music. If there are three or more NPCs in that area, then the music is played – otherwise, it is not. I have added this to the article. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 13:02, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
