I don't think multiple references to the same item are necessary, for example the recent edit added several links for the torch item. As per standard wiki procedure imo only the first instance something with a definition is mentioned needs linking. I'll wait a bit before reverting the redundant links though. - Spinfx 04:23, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

The edit in question had some textual edits in it too, so I just "fixed" the extra links. Thanks for pointing it out though. happypal (talk • contribs) 07:35, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Mining Information

This is largely covered in Guide:Mining Techniques. Perhaps the information here should be merged with that and a link provided? -- TechpriestMagos 22:45, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

No More Replacing Water

Seems with version 1.1 water cant be replaced by dirt anymore, confirmation by someone else needed as it might be my game is broken^^

Confirmed. It is unaffected by placed blocks now. Falling sand doesn't remove water anymore either. I shudder to think that the same must be true for lava - how will we ever mine Hellstone without risking anything? This certainly presents a whole new set of challenges. -- TechpriestMagos 09:58, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
This feels largely gamebreaking to me.--Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.99.87.75 (talk • contribs)
It's really not. I've already adapted to having to redirect water while I'm mining rather than just blocking it up. Additionally, water (and lava) can now be pumped after hardmode is activated, making it a breeze to deal with in the late game. -- TechpriestMagos 23:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
You don't need to wait until hardmode; the vital ingredients for creating a pump system (mainly wires) are purchasable from the Mechanic, or salvageable from the dungeon (although you'll need to purchase wire cutters from the Mechanic to get them so you need her anyway). Just find her in the dungeon and you're good to go.
Admittedly, before finding the mechanic I was kinda upset they fixed the exploit (let's be honest, how can blocks magically soak water? Definitely was an oversight at the very least, if not an outright bug), but you know what? Draining water out is actually pretty trivial once I got over my psychological aversion to being submerged. Now I think nothing of tossing a glowstick and diving straight into an unknown pool to swim to the bottom and dig out a side drain. Got pretty good at digging out emergency breathing tunnels too. Protip: the grapple hotkey really helps when you need to haul yourself up out of water quickly. - Spinfx 11:14, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Water seems to reduce the travel distance of some ranged weapons but not others.

I only tested what ranged weapons I had on me, but it seems that some of them will fly shorter distances when your breath meter is up. For example, water shortens the projectile range of my Aqua Scepter, Wooden Boomerang, and Harpoon but not Vilethorn or Space Gun. Not sure what to do with this information; wiki-wise, is this information covered somewhere? I searched for "Water" and "Projectile" but didn't find much (a mention of Flamelash not penetrating water and of Magical Harp's projectile being slowed by water). --Moxie 20:26, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I know this is replying to a 2012 talk page, but I want to point out that the Vilethorn isn't particularly a projectile, but places "thorns" in a line that disappear after half a second, giving the illusion of being a projectile. Again, sorry for replying to something from 2012... Anonymous132547698 (talk) 19:02, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Water dupe with tiny amounts instead of big?

just found what might be a bug, if the smallest amount of water is filling a space over a few blocks, and then a 'drain' is made below, the drain will fill up and won't stop filling. having uploading problems for pictures.

Water charging bugs

I hollowed a tunel for go in the hell more quick and i hollowed in some huge water lakes, and when i was out in the hell, the water never stopped flowing, and on the top, all lake stop flowing, now i cant make out all this water in my tunel... because the chunks are glitched, please Re-Logic fix that.
