Teleportation

Teleportation allows the player to get to a certain location on the map without moving. Teleporting is useful to save traveling time, and may be used to quickly get to a home or safety bunker. For example, if the player has defeated the last of the Celestial Pillars, and the Moon Lord is about to spawn, they can quickly teleport back to their arena.

The general trend is that players need to teleport to a more-or-less prepared or fixed place, especially their spawn point (Magic Mirror/Cell Phone/Shellphone, Recall Potion/Potion of Return). Other "world" destinations include the two Oceans and perhaps the center-point of the Underworld (via the Magic and Demon Conch). Later, Pylons and Teleporters provide two separate ways for players to make a network of chosen destinations. The Rod of Discord and Harmony allow short-range teleportation to anywhere on the screen, and in the endgame the Portal Gun adds its own idiosyncratic short-range options.
