Server Issues

Ok, so my friend and I keep trying to join a multiplayer server. We have tried every world we have and it says we have the same ip address and ports, and it won't let us enter either ones world, it just says loading, even though we have given it up to an hour to load. I was hoping that you could help us with this issue. ^w^ Thankies.

P.S. The IP that it says we both have is 127.0.0.1 and the port it says we both have is 7777. When my friend tries to enter the port to mine, it doesn't even work for her. Really hoping you guys can fix this ^_^ --Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.107.65.255 (talk • contribs)

127.0.0.1 and localhost means this computer. It is a hostname that the computer's software and users may employ to access the computer's own network services via its loopback network interface. If you want you and your friend to join your server, get the computer's IPv4. You can simply do this on a windows computer by: clicking start menu and type "cmd" on the run bar (without the quotes), in the command prompt --> type "ipconfig" (without the quotes) now from the Ethernet Local Area Connection # (# represents a number from starting from 1) then find the first IP listed as "IP Address" (should be the 2nd one from 1st). That IP usally works when my brother is hosting a server so me and him can play terraria together. Also, when commenting on talk pages or here, use ~~~~ to sign your comments. Thank you and Good luck! User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 08:37, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
And by the way, the port is 7777 by default. No need to change that really ;) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 08:40, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. The ip thing helped but if it is a different internet server than the one you started on, would the port be the same?GamerDino (talk) 09:25, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Most likely yes it will. Always best to try, (unless it could be a terrible outcome of course). User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 09:36, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Well I ask because we tried the 7777 thing with the ips of both of our computers and it just always says loading. Is it because we aren't close to each other or what? I bought the game for her so we aren't really sure of what to do o.o'GamerDino (talk) 09:45, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
How are you hosting this server, by the in-game way? Or the application? (terraria-server.exe). And who ever is hosting the server, make sure you use that computer IP for both you and your friend. User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 09:50, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
I guess it is in-game. I bought the game for me and her over Steam.GamerDino (talk) 09:55, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
If you are hosting the server for you and your friend to play, use YOUR computer IP. Which means tell your friend your IP so she can try it, make sure your in-game first before she can connect. :P Having to buy it from steam makes no differences for this issue, it should work just fine. ;) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 09:58, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok. We do that but it takes forever to connect. How long is it usually going to take to connect to a server? GamerDino (talk) 10:06, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Mosty 1-5 seconds. You could also try your IP found here. User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 10:10, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
;~; We used the IP given with that and it still hasn't worked. WE gave it five minutes and it didn't connect. Is there another way to connect with people on there?GamerDino (talk) 10:26, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Most likely I suggest you to use the application server instead. It can be obtained at http://terraria.org/ near the bottom of the page. User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 10:33, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok it works for me, shows me entering and everything, but it still won't let my friend join in. Do i give her my IP address for the v1.2.2 number in the application?GamerDino (talk) 11:02, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Yes. User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 11:04, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Make sure to check Guide:Setting up a Terraria_server (and possibly Guide:Servers and Server). --0icke0 (talk) 11:07, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
You make it seem so easy 0icke0, I should've looked it up. ;P User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 11:16, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Protection and rewrite of Modifiers page

Countless times in the page's history, you can find people changing the percentage values of the modifiers despite the numerous reminders that they may be different for you because of rounding. They are doing it without any proof or comment, they don't change the second listing of the modifier and I doubt that they are actually reading the code to find this. This is very difficult for me as I actually use these values for DPS calculation, and while I can just use the percentages on the weapon in game, I need the base value for when I'm thinking ahead. I advise that users should be limited from changing the percentages, or at least be required to submit evidence that the new value is true. Version history new system

I can not continue implementing this new system without having the ability to edit the protected pages such as, 1.0 and 1.0.0. Can these such articles have their protected rights removed or changed in a way so I may edit it? It's just a problem that is slowing me down on this. Much thanks! :) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 19:18, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

The protected articles goes from 1.0 (1.0.0) to 1.1.2. 1.1 needs to be redirected to 1.1.0. You can get the full list here. :)User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 20:45, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
I think I have them all now. --0icke0 (talk) 12:12, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Bulk File Uploads

I've just gone through the sprites and created images of all Music Boxes when active, but to upload them each individually will take a while. This is just a sample case, but there are many MediaWiki extensions and options for bulk upload. Are any of them already in existence on this Wiki, or can we get one of them installed? --Crystallized (talk) 19:32, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

After some searching I found that we have MsUpload installed. When editing you see a 'Drop files here' area just above the editing area, which should allow you to upload multiple files at once. I've never used this before, so I have no idea how this works exactly, but maybe you can somehow use that? --0icke0 (talk) 13:52, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Works amazingly. I just have to drag the pictures into that box and click upload; don't even need to put them in the page though it certainly makes that faster! Thank you so much! --Crystallized (talk) 15:44, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Wall of Flesh fail

so when I died fighting the wall of flesh, I wanted to spawn him again, but it wouldn't let me. when I went back to my house, I had the horrified debuff and the wall was now where to be seen. when I threw the doll in lava it just killed my guide and nothing else happened. what's going on because this is really weird and annoying.(and frustrating because he had 400 health left! >=()— Preceding unsigned comment added by Meowser125 (talk • contribs)

There are quite a few bugs with the Wall of Flesh. Most of them will be fixed by simply restarting the game. --0icke0 (talk) 10:53, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

AJAX on Terraria Wiki

Crystallized and Equazcion and I have recently been discussing the possibility of implementing "AJAX" on Terraria Wiki as a means to improve article loading. Could any administrators please share their opinion on this? Thanks in advance! NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 21:45, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Cliff notes: Long pages like Item IDs etc. can take an excessively long time to load, and/or freeze browsers; and editing them often fails. Some wikis split long lists into multiple pages, and use one central page that refers to them; the central page uses Ajax to dynamically load the split-off pages and display them as sections when a user clicks each individually.
I don't know offhand if simply copying the Javascript and template over here will make the whole thing work. Some editing and testing would probably be required by someone with the knowhow and admin access. It seems like an elegant solution to the loading issue though, as everything is kept on the same page, but content is loaded in browsers in smaller bite-size portions. This would also cause lower demands on the server. Equazcion (talk) 22:02, 25 Mar 2014 (UTC)
Alright, I've created the template and a test, and after enabling javascript (by creating User:USERNAME/common.js) it does seem to work. So if you can create a Common.js file that works well (e.g. only contains the functionality needed for this template) I can copy it to MediaWiki:Common.js. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience with javascript, nor the time, so I won't be able to do this myself. (By the way, there does seem to be a bug in the code: if you click show->hide->show you wont be able to hide it anymore after that.) --0icke0 (talk) 12:12, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
I've caused "trouble" in the past here for something apparently called "recent changes spam", caused by experimentation in my userspace, so I'd be apprehensive about being the one to help out there. Equazcion (talk) 21:57, 26 Mar 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, weird, I can't find any abuse filter rules that may cause this. --0icke0 (talk) 22:56, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
It wasn't an abuse filter, just complaints from administrators. Equazcion (talk) 00:25, 28 Mar 2014 (UTC)
After some thinking I decided to bring this issue directly to Curse. Currently it seems all Gamepedia wikis are required to individually make the effort of implementing AJAX, so I made the suggestion of making AJAX a default function like Wikitext markup. The latest mail reply I've received states that the ticket has been sent to the platform/development team, so hopefully there can be some changes. Other than that I'd like to thank both of you for your efforts. I was really impressed by all the stuff you guys made (even if it didn't quite solve the issue), things like that are like magic for me! Thanks for helping out!! I'm also sorry to hear about the "recent changes spam" - I think you're a very good contributor, Equazcion, so it's a shame your work has been rewarded with complaints. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 13:22, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
I was just about to reply to this ticket, but I figured I'd come respond here. The simple answer is that while AJAX is supported by default, there's really no way to implement it globally for technical reasons, so each local wiki will have to develop their own solution to implementing it and unfortunately we're not able to offer direct support with that at this time. My recommendation would be to continue experimenting here, and to perhaps reach out to the team over at WoWpedia for some assistance. CrsBenjamin (talk) 16:09, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the response. I am sorry to hear that my suggestion is unworkable and that Curse cannot help us. I'll try get in touch with the Wowpedia magicans. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 22:56, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
I've been lucky enough to find a helpful WoWpedia user who could shed some light on this matter (here). Apparently, the stuff imported from WoWpedia only requires a few adjustments in order to work properly. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 23:58, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I've added the ajax functionality. See this for an example. I'm not certain where the head argument in the template is used for, but I've kept it for now. --0icke0 (talk) 10:30, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Yay! Finally! Thanks to everyone who helped making this possible! NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 00:57, 18 April 2014 (UTC)

PC-only template

I've been toying with ways to make the {{pc only}} template sleeker and not push content down so much:

As a bolder alternative, it's possible to push the notice up above the top border of the page, to make neat little page badges. Wikipedia does this in some instances. Here are a few possibilities:

The {{pc only}} template is protected so I can't implement any of this myself, but if an admin thinks any of these would be an improvement feel free. Equazcion (talk) 15:27, 29 Mar 2014 (UTC)

Personally I like User:Equazcion/pconly and User:Equazcion/pctop3 best. pctop1 and pctop2 may hide the page name on small screens, so those may not be a good idea. I'm not sure what other users prefer, but if I get no further response the next few days I'll implement one of those. --0icke0 (talk) 10:23, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
They are all neat, but I suspect that 2 and 4 may fail to catch some users' view due to the lack of a colored background. I'd use 0 - though it's pretty similar to the current one it also seems to be the clearest. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 23:22, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi and thx for your work,
my sugestion is to add a column to the weapons sortable table page refering to the fact that it is obtanable depending on if your caracter is hardmode or not. -Newbie — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.27.51.169 at 19:42, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
I'd like to throw my opinion out! :D The User:Equazcion/pconly and User:Equazcion/pctop3 seems to be the best due to the colored background so it will stand out from the text throughout the thread. Over these to template, I'd prefer User:Equazcion/pconly because its more "eye-catching" to find it on the article page to the top-center instead of the other being next to the article name to the right. I'd vote for User:Equazcion/pconly. :P User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 04:43, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
I've implemented the pconly template now (and also for console/mobile templates). --0icke0 (talk) 08:05, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

X-box new update glitches

So it all started as soon as i got the new update for x-box. As it finished updating i went on to a very important world,it was important because i made a really cool house that i worked really hard on, and, well i guess you could say i was "moving" because the corruption got out of control in my other world, but when i went to the house, the very middle of it was moved about 50 blocks lower, and the left and right side were still in place, in addition to that the middle was also covered in LAVA, it was EVERYWHERE!!!!! Then i also checked the other worlds, but the one with the out of control corruption (as in it corrupted to much, so my easy way to avoid was to move worlds not glitch)would not load, it would say load failed each time, and this never happened before. My conclusion was to delete the new update, and the worlds would be fine, but when i did that my character was GONE! Like i deleted him (i never did), it only said 'Create new character'. So i just turned off my x-box and found something else to do. The next day i decided to install the update and start over. So my character was back (yay...) but the worlds were gone, none left! I started over (though with my old character) and no glitches were to be seen for a while. Until one day (only about 2 or 3 days later). I had a decent house filled with rooms for all my people and rooms for the people who i would have gotten later in the game. So when i went on, every one was gone, like they died, they all had to re-spawn. But when i went to grab something from a chest, i discovered a new glitch that wasn't occurring the day before, i could not open a chest, i tried so many times but it would not open. That's when i remembered one of the chests were empty, so i destroyed it to see if i placed it back down if it would work, but i couldn't even place the chest!!!! So i continued to play the game with out the items in the chest. Until one day (the day i post this) ALL the items in the slot bar changed!!!!! Literately!!!! They were different items!!! My Exalibur (legend sword of king Aurthur, forget how to spell) was 24 gold coins!!! It also had completely random tool-tips like: consumable, and other stuff. I will give 1 more example. I forget the item but it turned into a wooden helmet for a girl, (i am a guy) and it said vanity item, but also had a defence of 20 000! TWENTY THOUSAND! The items also stacked past the limit, because i had 13 of these. That's when i decided to submit this. Please tell me what is going on, this used to be my FAVORITE game, thanks for reading, and tell me whats happening.— Preceding unsigned comment added by MistaHappy663 (talk • contribs) at 15:27, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

That is quite the story. It might be an idea to report these bugs on the official forums (console bug reports), though I also suggest you divide your text info smaller sections to avoid the "wall of text" appearance. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 20:05, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Freezing!?

Okay so on the Xbox version recently there was an update (Xbox)as you all know. However I open my piggy bank and see a whole bunch of AMAZING items. So naturally I take them all out and put them in a chest and save my game. Now every time I try to get on terraria my xbox freezes. Is there any way to fix this or can I not play Terraria again. Also I had lost some items such as my Drax, 5 Light Discs, and other items I did not remember. (it was my whole top row of items) So a reply on how to fix this would be gratefully appreciated— Preceding unsigned comment added by Darthsmash (talk • contribs) at 01:32, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

I am sorry to hear that you are having such severe problems. Unfortunately I cannot provide any help for fixing it, but I suggest you report the problem on the official community site as in the above section. In addition to those links, there also seems to be a official request for feedback on console bugs. Other than that I think I personally would give Terraria a pause until they come up with a fix. Currently the console version seems to be a maze of bugs, and the feedback post suggests an update will arrive soon. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 02:02, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

Word Filter Issue

So, in the new update, there is an item called Molotov C*cktail. However, we can't type that name in full due to the word filter. --KZaicon (talk) 21:33, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

I removed that word from the filter for now. --0icke0 (talk) 21:17, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks --KZaicon (talk) 21:33, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Dungeon Chests

Until now, the wiki referred to the Jungle, Frozen, Corrupt etc. chests as "Dungeon Chests", just to have a general name for those. It seemed to fit at the time, since those chests appear in the Dungeon. However, 1.2.4.1 introduced three new Chests named Dungeon Chests, which are completely unrelated to our Dungeon Chests. We should come up with a new name for the group of Chests that require temple keys/key molds, and maybe determine how we can replace all instances of the current name once a new name is decided. Any thoughts? Equazcion (talk) 20:52, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

I've been thinking that the name "Dungeon Chest" was a bit misleading from the start. It gives an impression of listing all types of chests in the Dungeon while only listing the Hardmode ones. Perhaps it'd be an idea to make it a sort of disambig/overview article with "Golden Chest (locked)", "Dungeon Chests (crafted)" and "Hardmode Chests"? As for fixing entries referring to Dungeon Chest I'm guessing the only way is to meticulously look up and edit them one by one. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 14:56, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Renaming won't be a big problem. From what I can see almost all pages come from the template. --0icke0 (talk) 16:58, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I've moved it. --0icke0 (talk) 11:43, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Undo edit (undo is identified as potentially harmful, apparently)

We seem to be under a lot of vandalism right now, and I've been reverting edits that appear to be vandalism. This ([1]) is one of them, but I can't undo it as the edit added a section, and removing the section is identified as potentially harmful by the server. If this is not vandalism, then please elaborate as to 1) who Tobuscus is and 2) what "the song" refers to. 130.160.195.19 02:31, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

This one is not vandalism (The song), I'm already updating the page.
Also, sections can only be removed by registered users, that's why you saw that potentially harmful warning.
Thanks for your help removing vandalism! --OdnHarfagre (talk) 03:38, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Main Page missing Arapaima from Enemy list

http://terraria.gamepedia.com/Arapaima

Just noticed this today. The Arapaima is missing from the Hardmode enemy list on the main page. Being we cannot edit the main page, I figured I would let an admin know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Demonasius (talk • contribs)

There are many enemies missing from the main page, because there are simply too many enemies to list them all. Hence only the more common or interesting enemies are listed. If you want to suggest other enemies to appear on the main page you can make suggestions to the main page here. --0icke0 (talk) 21:54, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Broken Armor

Ok so I looked at the wiki page where it's telling you about the Broken Armor Debuff. It says that it last only 2 minutes now. But I get hit by the Armored Skeletons and it gives me the Debuff for 5 minutes. Is this a bug?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkkitten3456 (talk • contribs) at 13:29, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

When checking in-game it does indeed last 5 minutes although it should have been lowered to 2 since 1.2. I don't know if it's a bug or something else, for now I'll just label it as an unspecified patch change. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 05:06, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Home to House

Is it time to officially move Home to House? The game developers had originally called them "homes", but now nobody really uses that term. "House" appears more in the game code now than "home" does. The original Guide quotes still haven't been changed from "Home", but most NPC quotes that have been added since years ago all use "House". Equazcion (talk) 21:15, 15 Jul 2014 (UTC)

Seems House was used nearly everywhere on this wiki too, so I've moved it. --0icke0 (talk) 09:41, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks :) Equazcion (talk) 09:58, 16 Jul 2014 (UTC)

Editing the wiki

Recently, when i try to save a change or publish a page it will tell me to try again but i try 3 times and even logout and back in and it still wont work sometimes. Michelangelo42 (talk) 18:24, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

I can report the same problem. Though, logging out, then clearing the cache, then logging back in does seem to fix it. Had the same problem trying to post this reply. -Xolroc (talk) 18:54, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
I have the same problem. It's so annoying that registered users have this problem, considering anonymous users are vandalising the wiki every single day... I hope this get fixed soon. -Morenohijazo (talk) 22:31, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Grappling hooks -> Hooks

Can we move Grappling hooks to Hooks? It seems more intuitive than using the plural of Grappling Hook. I realize we have Hook, which could continue causing some confusion... but, being that the Grappling Hook is one of the current Grappling hooks, I think it would still be an improvement. Plus, the game and the developers refer to them as "Hooks", not "Grappling hooks". Equazcion (talk) 23:51, 31 Jul 2014 (UTC)

I'm in support of this idea, but leave a redirect from Grappling hooks to Hooks, and put something like Wikipedia's "for" template on the Hook and Hooks pages. --Xolroc (talk) 02:13, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I've moved it. --0icke0 (talk) 08:35, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks again Icke, and thanks for the input Xolroc :) Equazcion (talk) 11:59, 1 Aug 2014 (UTC)

Page protection

The article Boss is a regular target of vandalism and addition of false information &/or speculation. Can that page be locked so only logged in users can edit it? FyreNWater (talk) 22:42, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

I've protected it for some time. Hopefully the vandalism will reduce after that. --0icke0 (talk) 08:50, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Nipping edit war in the bud

The List of Console Items page creator Dxos3(talk • contribslogsblock log) created a redundant list that got tagged for deletion. Rather than discuss the deletion, they removed the tag and continued to edit the page. If someone could step in and stop the edit war, as well as point Dxos3 to a place to learn how to write proper articles, that would be helpful. FyreNWater (talk) 01:47, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

User has removed the delete tag on the redundant page yet again. I'm not going to get into an edit war. FyreNWater (talk) 05:10, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
For now just leave it like that. I'm aware that the page may need to be deleted and discussion goes on on the talk page, with or without the notice. We'll see how it turns out and if any further actions may be needed after that. --0icke0 (talk) 12:33, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Problems with starting Terraria

So on, before long (very very long) time ago (when i had windows xp sp2 now i have sp3) terraria was working fine. Now i wanted to continue playing. But i have problems. I've tried lots of things. And i cant solve this. I get "Terraria has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. When i try using "Run As..." i get "Cannot find a version of the runtime to start the application" or something like that, now i'm trying the last thing i can do. I hope this thing helps...and if it does i will type it here. 87.121.212.112 02:07, 23 August 2014 (UTC) (I'm sasdom919 from minecraft but whatever)

Rarity colors

Template Sandbox: Template:Item infobox/sandbox

Gonna try to explain this as best I can. I was recently taking a closer look at rarity colors, and found it very confusing to match the on-wiki colors with in-game text. I started playing around with the colors shown at Rarity and found it impossible to reproduce the in-game appearance using web formatted text (the in-game colors are actually light pastels, and using them here doesn't look right without the black border the game adds -- which you can't do currently using HTML/CSS).

I started producing images instead. I created Template:Rare2 to help place them. Right now it's only in use on the Rarity page, but I think it might be worth considering using it in Template:Item infobox. They're larger than most infobox text, but spiffier, and I think they provide an important visual cue that the current infobox rarity labels lack.

I created Template:item infobox/sandbox to illustrate, which you can see an example of to the right. Equazcion (talk) 05:12, 26 Aug 2014 (UTC)

Ok, I've implemented this. --0icke0 (talk) 08:59, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks :) I just uploaded slightly smaller images so as not to overpower the other infobox text. You may now want to protect Template:Rare2 and all the images it uses, since they're now transcluded on all item pages. Equazcion (talk) 15:40, 27 Aug 2014 (UTC)
I'd have to say, I like this. Thanks for you taking your time to implement this and of course 0icke0, for implementing it for the infobox. ;) Great work! User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 22:05, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the kudos :) Today I also added categories. The infobox now automatically adds items to a rarity tier category, so you can see listings of all purple, blue, etc items. You can see them by clicking a tier color at the Rarity page. PS. I reverted the change you made to this talk page -- sorry -- but there's no need to require level-3 headers for discussions here. Two is the standard, and there's no particular reason to deviate from that here. Equazcion (talk) 22:17, 27 Aug 2014 (UTC)
I've removed the sandbox preview but added a link to it. This is because the doc= tag is not implemented. (It's suppose to make the categories not display if present.) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 22:40, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Talk pages / Signing comments

Some users who don't register or may not know how to really use a wiki often don't sign the comment they make on talk pages, or such with the tildes. (~~~~) Well, I have a code (below) that I would like to be added to the following MediaWiki page. This will pop up every time on the top of the wiki when editing a talk page.

This is a talk page. Please respect the talk page guidelines, and remember to sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~).

I'd also like this section (below) to be added to the wiki rules.

==Talk pages==

*When making comments or asking questions on a talk page, be sure to sign the end with four tildes (~~~~)

*Always remain civil during discussions.

You may also edit the above to fit your best liking, this is just my start of it. Hopefully this will reduce the amount of users not signing comments. :) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 22:32, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

I'm not really sure if this is a major issue here, especially since the wiki doesn't get much discussion in general. Couldn't hurt though. PS. I edited the above a little. Equazcion (talk) 12:28, 28 Aug 2014 (UTC)
I wouldn't expect much from it, but it wouldn't hurt to do it because their are people who do pay attention to what's actually on the screen. ;) User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 18:20, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
Added. Lets hope it helps. --0icke0 (talk) 11:18, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

iOS Hardmode release

I made Template:PC-Console-iOS only in preparation for the iOS 1.2 release. Not sure whether to use it or just wait for the Android release, but it's there if anyone wants to. Equazcion (talk) 11:27, 28 Aug 2014 (UTC)

Now that they have announced that Android will be released in a few days I guess this is no longer needed. --0icke0 (talk) 11:18, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Tizona inconsistencies.

When viewing the Excalibur page the wiki says to craft the Tizona you need 1 Excalibur and 15 Adamantite bars. When I click on the Soul of Blight page it says it requires 2 Excalibur and 20 Adamantite Bars.

Fixed. I think the Soul of Blight page was showing an old pre-1.2 recipe. Equazcion (talk) 21:48, 31 Aug 2014 (UTC)

Version icon tooltips

I created sandbox versions of the version icons with tooltips added. The actual templates are protected so I can't update them myself.

  • Template:Pc icon/sandbox
  • Template:Console icon/sandbox
  • Template:Mobile icon/sandbox

User:0icke0, could you update the main templates (assuming you think this would be an improvement)? Thanks. Equazcion (talk) 09:49, 1 Sep 2014 (UTC)

I've looked at implementing that before, but without success. So I'm glad we have this now, thanks for your work on this. --0icke0 (talk) 10:14, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
No problem, thanks for making the edits :) Equazcion (talk) 10:25, 1 Sep 2014 (UTC)

NPC infobox tweak

I'd like to add an optional width parameter to {{npc infobox}}. It's a pretty simple change.

  • In the first line, this: width:21em;
  • would become width:{{{width|21em}}};

I made {{npc infobox2}} with the parameter added. You can see it in effect on Cursed Skull, one box with the optional width specified and the other without it at the default setting. Equazcion (talk) 04:13, 6 Sep 2014 (UTC)

Ok, I've updated it. --0icke0 (talk) 09:53, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks :) Equazcion (talk) 12:22, 6 Sep 2014 (UTC)

Anonymous page creation

I wonder if we could request a user rights change for anonymous users so they wouldn't be able to create new pages, and only autoconfirmed users can (registered users with validated email, 10 edits, and registered for 3 days). It is technically possible, if we can get someone to do it. It's pretty much always vandalism when anon users create pages, and we get something like 7 or 8 of those per day, on a good day. I could see anonymous page creation being useful perhaps for the month after a new major update is released, but it's not worth the hassle it creates all other times. People who want to create legit pages tend to register. Equazcion (talk) 15:45, 7 Sep 2014 (UTC)

The main problem with this would properly be the translation pages. Most other language users create an account and immediately start creating new pages. Forcing them to wait 3 days and make 10 edits on other pages will likely result in a halt to the translation progress. As far as I know it is not possible to only allow users to create pages matching a certain format (in this case containing a / in the page name). --0icke0 (talk) 17:49, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
I see what you mean. Although it seems I could be wrong about the autoconfirmed requirements on this wiki, apparently -- you semi-protected Boss so only autoconfirmed users could edit (protected 6 sept 2014, expires 6 oct 2014), but User:Newman1239 was able to vandalize it immediately after creating an account today. Not sure how that works. Equazcion (talk) 18:51, 8 Sep 2014 (UTC)
I guess the requirements are different on this wiki then. I wonder what they are, as I cannot find them anywhere. --0icke0 (talk) 09:35, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
It is possible to setup an AbuseFilter to do the action you requested, but we would generally suggest not to. If you are having issues with spam or vandalism, you can contact a member from Gamepedia's Wiki team, and we will assist you in doing so :) Cblair91 (talk) 10:11, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Alright, I've modified the abuse filter to give a warning when an anonymous user tries to create a page. However creating the page is still possible after that. This should stop most vandal bots (I hope) and possibly some of the vandalism by anonymous users, while being a minor inconvenience for legitimate users. For now lets just see how well it works, modifications can always be made later. --0icke0 (talk) 15:43, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Wiki logo/favicon

The new terraria.org features some redesigned graphics. The logo and favicon at this wiki were originally designed to match TerrariaOnline's graphics, and since the new terraria.org is going to be replacing that, I figure the graphics here could probably be updated to once again match. I created File:WikiNew.png as a possible update for our current wiki logo (File:Wiki.png). There's also File:Favicon New.ico, which is taken directly from the new terraria.org favicon, and could replace our File:Favicon.ico. Equazcion (talk) 15:54, 14 Sep 2014 (UTC)

I've uploaded the new image, they should be visible soon. --0icke0 (talk) 15:28, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi there and welcome :) Unfortunately I don't know enough about the mobile versions of Terraria to answer this. You're most like to get some answers at the official Terraria forum. There's a section for mobile technical support there: http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?forums/mobile-technical-support.148/. You'll just need to register and post a new thread. Good luck, I hope you can get your character back! Equazcion (talk) 15:24, 4 Dec 2014 (UTC)

Hi there (2)

Hi there, My in game name is BouncyBunny and recently I have been experiencing items disappearing out of my inventory! I've had many things disappear in the last few days. (FYI: This was on the mobile version of terraria). This has been making me upset and having to ask some people I know to trade my other stuff for one. please help, BouncyBunny — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.57.204.181 at 02:14, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

You're better off asking this question at the mobile support forum. This page is just for wiki issues, and there probably isn't anyone here who could help. Good luck! Equazcion (talk) 02:20, 28 Dec 2014 (UTC)
