Tinkerer's Workshop
The Tinkerer's Workshop is a crafting station that is used primarily to combine multiple accessories into single items that usually provide the abilities of their components. For instance, it can combine the Rocket Boots and Hermes Boots into a single item (the Spectre Boots) that provides the same rocket-jumping and accelerated movement as the individual items do, without occupying two accessory slots. The Tinkerer's Workshop can be purchased from the Goblin Tinkerer for 10 GC.
(Desktop, Console, Old-gen console and Mobile versions) When combining items, the Tinkerer's Workshop will assign a new random modifier to the crafted item. The modifiers the individual items had beforehand do not influence the modifier of the new combined item.
(3DS version) Items crafted at the Tinkerer's Workshop will be assigned no modifier.
The Tinkerer's Workshop is also used to craft most of the unrecordable Music Boxes, the Shellphone(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), The Grand Design(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions), and Boulders on the Old-gen console version and Nintendo
version.

Notes
- The Tinkerer's Workshop has a three-tile-wide flat surface on which other items can be placed. However, it does not fulfill a house's "flat-surface item" requirement.
- A Bottle (or similar) can be placed on it and used as a Placed Bottle for crafting potions.
- This crafting station provides the most complex crafting chains in the game: The Cell Phone(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) requires uniting four groups of three Informational Accessories into four intermediate items, then merging those into a PDA(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) which provides all available information, and finally combining that with a Magic or Ice Mirror to integrate the recall functionality. Similarly, the Ankh Shield combines eleven different protective items (mostly from Hardmode) into a single accessory that protects from most common debuffs. There are several other chains with two or three levels of combination, e.g. the Spectre Boots noted above can be further upgraded to Lightning Boots, Frostspark Boots, and then Terraspark Boots.
- It matches the visual theme of the Wooden furniture set, especially the
Bookcase.
Tips
- The Tinkerer's Workshop can be a crucial step in game advancement, as it effectively allows players to enable more accessory-provided abilities at once.
- Accessories often combine in stages. Here are some notable "final targets", the terminal items of their crafting trees:
- Shellphone(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions): second most complex crafting tree in the game, combining 12 informational accessories and a teleport to various locations in the world.
- Terraspark Boots: speed, limited flight, ice stability, fire block immunity, and the ability to walk on liquids.
- The Grand Design(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions): everything for working with mechanisms.
- For balloons, the Bundle of Horseshoe Balloons(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) combines the Bundle of Balloons, which offers the possibility to quadruple-jump (combining the effects of the Cloud in a Balloon, the Blizzard in a Balloon and the Sandstorm in a Balloon), and the Lucky Horseshoe, which provides fall damage resistance and extra luck.
- Arctic Diving Gear: extended breathing time, mobility, and light underwater, and furthermore better mobility on ice. In Expert Mode, it also protects against the Chilled debuff.
- Some Hardmode terminal items:
- Ankh Shield: third most complex tree, combining 11 protective accessories to provide immunity to a variety of the common debuffs inflicted by enemies. Also grants knockback resistance and some extra defense.
- Fire Gauntlet: increased melee damage, attack speed, and knockback, and all melee weapons inflict (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Hellfire / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) On Fire!.
- Celestial Shell(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions): stat boosts and Werewolf and Merfolk transformations.
