The Tungsten Bar is an early-game metal bar, used to create the Tungsten tier of equipment. Its alternate ore version is the Silver Bar. It can also be placed on the ground, like furniture.

Tips
- Compared to its alternative ore, Silver, having Tungsten in a world may be more favorable to magic weapon users, as it allows acquiring the magic-boosting Meteor armor faster. A Tungsten Pickaxe can mine Meteorite, while a Silver Pickaxe cannot. Meteorite is required for crafting the Meteor armor.
- Because Tungsten armor only grants 1 defense less than Gold armor, it is usually not worth spending time to gather Gold for the armor. Tungsten Ore is generally much more common than Gold Ore.
Trivia
- In reality, tungsten is extremely difficult to work due to its hardness; it has one of the highest melting points of the elements. It also is used in the filament for light bulbs due to its heat resistance.
- A real furnace similar to the Furnace in Terraria would likely be incapable of reaching a temperature high enough to make tungsten shapable.
- Furthermore, real-life tungsten is actually a white metal, not green.
- The word tungsten derives from the Swedish and Danish words tung ("heavy") and sten ("stone").
