Re-Logic staff members occasionally announce and/or hint at various details of Terraria updates that are still in development. This page lists those details.

Since the updates described here have not been released yet, and many of these details are only conjectured based on comments or screenshots provided by the staff, all items here may be subject to change, or may not end up in a future Terraria update at all.

Upcoming features policy

• Any and all upcoming features must be sourced to a Re-Logic staff posting. Unsourced information, or information purportedly leaked from other sources, will be removed.
• Future features and changes should remain confined to this page, and to articles dedicated solely to future items. They should not be added to articles on current features.
• Graphics officially released by Re-Logic staff, or images cut from them, can be uploaded. Unreleased graphics purportedly leaked from other sources may be Re-Logic intellectual property, and/or may be unreliable, and will be deleted. Original player artwork depicting future items will also be deleted, unless it is solely for personal use in User: space.

Terraria

1.4.4

Cenx's post on Twitter, featuring a build of Terraria versioned "v1.4.4 r003 DEBUG".

1.4.4 (titled "Labor of Love") focuses on balance and quality of life changes, but will also include new content. It is planned to be released sometime during 2022.

Gameplay

• At least two new secret world seeds, described by Redigit as "something special for the brave of heart" and "his magnum opus".
• A few new achievements.
• A new loadout mechanic, which allows the player to save and switch between up to 3 sets of equipment.
• The Fancy Health and Mana bar style now has a numeric display for health.
• The "Quick stack to nearby chests" function now has visual display of items flying into chests.
• Bestiary now shows kill count for enemy entries.
• New commands:
  • /deaths, which shows the player's death count in the current world.
  • /alldeaths, which lists death count in the current world for all player in a server.

Items

New items

• A few new pets. One of the pet-summoning items is named Resplendent Dessert.
• The Fart Kart, a new Minecart that periodically plays a fart sound and releases green particles while moving.
• A purple-colored variant of glowing moss.
• A new coral-themed block and wall and its associated furniture set.
• A new variety of wood and its respective furniture set.
• A new type of liquid.
• At least one new painting.
• A Bottomless Honey Bucket and Honey Absorbant Sponge.
• The Biome Sight Potion, which reveals nearby corrupt, crimson and hallow tiles.
• Echo Coating, a paint-like item that can be applied to furniture, blocks and background walls, turning them transparent.
• A placeable item which, when activated, allows the player to see Echo Blocks and tiles coated with Echo Coating.
• Lilith's Necklace, an item equipped in the mount slot that allows the player to transform into a wolf by pressing the Quick Mount button. The wolf can be dyed and some vanity items are visible when transformed, but certain accessories cannot be used, such as wings.
• An item resembling bread.
• An accessory that changes the bobber of fishing poles to a star-shaped bobber. It is unknown whether this is purely cosmetic or has actual effect.

Changes to existing items

• The stack limit of most stackable items has been increased to 9999.

Weapons

• The duration of all sentries has been increased from 2 to 10 minutes.
• The duration of the projectiles summoned by the Rainbow Gun, Nimbus Rod and Clinger Staff has been increased.
• The Dark Lance's damage has been increased from 29 to 34. It now has approximately 15–20% more reach and inflicts Shadowflame on hit.
• The Frostbrand's projectile is now fired more often and inflicts Frostburn.
• The Flairon's bubbles now last 33% longer and their detection range to chase after enemies has been increased by 30%.
• The Scourge of the Corruptor's Tiny Eaters now spawn in more consistent and overall higher numbers (on average), and move and chase enemies faster.
• The Star Wrath's star projectiles now use their own independent immunity timer, allowing each star to hit an enemy. Previously, only one could hit at a time.
• The Lunar Portal Staff's lasers now move much faster and are fired twice as fast.
• A new sprite for the Muramasa.
• A new visual effect appears when swinging the Excalibur.
• The True Excalibur now has a longer reach and a new visual effect when swung.
• The True Night's Edge fires a new projectile.
• The Terra Blade fires a new projectile.
• Unspecified changes have been made to the Night's Edge and Starfury.

Armor

• The Mining Shirt now has +10% mining speed, while the set bonus of the Mining armor provides +10% mining speed instead of +30%. The Mining Pants is most likely to have +10% mining speed as well.

Accessories

• Some informational accessories' readouts will dim when inactive.
• All accessories can be equipped in vanity accessory slots again. This reverts the change from 1.4.0.1, which limited the vanity slots to only hold accessories with a visual vanity effect.
• The Metal Detector is now able to detect Gelatin Crystals.
• The Hive Pack now increases the fire rate of the Hornet minion and increases the damage and armor penetration of the Wasp Gun.
• The Pocket Mirror has been added as a component of the Ankh Charm.
• There is now a guaranteed way to obtain the Sandstorm in a Bottle.
• The Cellphone and Bundle of Balloons are now materials.
• The Rifle Scope now also applies its effect to the Clentaminator.
• The Aglet is now easier to obtain.

Furniture

• Furniture can now be placed on top of cages.
• Pressing ⚷ Open / Activate on the Eternia Crystal Stand now skips the remaining wait time between Old One's Army waves.
• Projectile Tombstones now deal damage (similar to Boulders) in "a certain seed".
• The Sharpened, Clairvoyance, Ammo Box, and Bewitched buffs now last until death.
• Ropes can now overlap with other background tiles like platforms and Minecart Tracks.
• The War Table now grants a buff that increases the maximum amount of sentries, similar to the Bewitching Table.
• A Shadow Chest and a Chain can now be crafted into a locked Shadow Chest item.
• Banners and lanterns can now be hung from platforms, including all four positions.
• The Angel Statue now "finally do[es] something".

Miscellaneous

• The Spelunker buff will now highlight paintings and statues.
• The Magic Mirror can now be crafted.
• The cost of Defender Medal purchases from the Tavernkeep has been reduced significantly (averaging 33–40% fewer medals for the majority of items).
• Life Crystals and Mana Crystals can now be placed down.
• Crafting the Celestial Sigil now only requires 12 of each Lunar Fragment instead of 20. The waiting period between using the Celestial Sigil and the Moon Lord's spawning has been reduced from 60 to 12 seconds.
• Town pets can now be exchanged by using another pet license, and pet licenses can be purchased indefinitely from the Zoologist.
• The Drill Mount can now destroy background walls.
• Illuminant Paint has been renamed to Illuminant Coating and can be applied on top of other paints.
• When holding a fishing pole, the active bait type is now shown next to the cursor.
• An overhaul to Void Bag's functionality:
  • The Void Bag can now be closed by pressing ⚷ Open / Activate on it in the inventory, and doing so will prevent it from picking up items when the player's inventory is full.
  • Added several new functions when the Void Bag is open:
    • Items in the Void Bag can be directly used for crafting or quick stacked to nearby chests. They can also be favorited to disable quick stacking, just like the main inventory.
    • Recovery potions and buff potions can be used from the Void Bag by pressing the respective hotkey (Quick Heal, Quick Mana, and Quick Buff).
    • When using the "Loot All" function, overflowing items will automatically be deposited into the Void Bag.
  • Items that have a function when placed in the player's inventory can also function in an open Void Bag, including:
    • Informational accessories
    • Paint Sprayer, Presserator, and any accessories that grant Wire, Actuator, or Ruler vision when in the inventory
    • The Guide To Critter Companionship
    • Keys stored in the Void Bag can be used to open chests
    • Wormhole Potions

NPCs

• New NPCs:
  • A Slime town pet with at least 8 variations. It may be able to change color.
  • Macaws that spawn in the Jungle.
• Several changes to existing NPCs:
  • "Tula" has been added as a possible name for the silver variant of the Cat.
  • "Pete" has been added as a possible name for the beagle variant of the Dog.
  • Slime bonus drops may now include Fallen Stars.
  • The Angler now has a chance to give an extra furniture loot drop (in addition to his main reward) upon completing a quest. The odds of this will increase as the player completes more quests.
  • The drop rate for all rare pirate drops has been doubled on regular pirates and Pirate Captains.
    • The Flying Dutchman now has a dramatically increased chance to drop any of these items (in some cases, 10 times as likely), and will always drop one piece of golden furniture.
  • The Snow Flinx's spawning conditions have been changed.
  • Unspecified changes have been made to Golem.
  • Moss Hornets can now drop Stingers.

World generation

• Bast Statues can now be randomly found placed inside Desert Underground Cabins, in addition to being found inside Chests.
• A Plantera's Bulb will now spawn immediately after defeating all three mechanical bosses.
• Corruption and Crimson no longer convert Mud Blocks into Dirt Blocks when spreading to Jungle grass. Instead, there are Corrupt Jungle grass and Crimson Jungle grass variants now. Hallow still does not infect Jungle.
• Added Corrupt Vines.

Miscellaneous

• A new music track.
• A vanity Minecart slot.
• If the player has a pet equipped, it will now appear next to them in the character select menu.
• The maximum amount of buffs a player can have has been increased.
• The default character difficulty selection has been changed from Journey Mode to Classic Mode.
• Multiple new death messages, including:
  • "<player name> became an astronaut."
  • "<player name> had a spontaneous lobotomy."
  • "<player name>'s bowels were unplugged."

Cross-play

With Journey's End being designed to be a conclusion to Terraria, no new major content updates are planned for the  Desktop version. However, Re-Logic has stated that they would like to implement cross-play, allowing Multiplayer between the  Desktop version,  Console version, and  Mobile version. This will require feature parity between all three versions to function properly, as Cenx has stated.

Terraria 2

In the past, Redigit has mentioned plans to release Terraria 2, a separate game from the cancelled Terraria: Otherworld, although little information is known about the nature or content in the possible upcoming sequel at this time, including whether it still exists.
