The Xenopopper in action. Note the projectiles moving towards the cursor.

The Xenopopper is a Hardmode, post-Golem gun that has a 1/6 (16.67%) chance of being dropped by the Martian Saucer during the Martian Madness event. When used, it fires a burst of 4–5 purple bubbles, consuming one bullet. The bubbles deal no damage and will bounce off solid blocks, but pop after a 0.5-second delay, each firing a bullet directly towards the cursor.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • The Xenopopper has a 1/4 (25%) chance per shot of firing 5 bubbles instead of 4, resulting in an average of 4.25 bubbles per shot.[1]

Tips

  • Chlorophyte Bullets are a great pair with the Xenopopper as its bullets can be difficult to aim.

Trivia

  • The prefix xeno- means foreign, different in origin, and often relates to aliens.
  • The Xenopopper's functionality bears a striking resemblance to that of the max level Bubbline/Bubbler from the 2004 Metroidvania platform-adventure game Cave Story.
  • The Xenopopper could be considered a type of shotgun. However, its actual bullets have perfect accuracy.
